Is it too popular at the moment?

How do you pronounce it? Ee lie ah?
And Eli? Is it E-li or Ee-li?

pipilangstrumpf · 13/10/2017 07:55

Or Ee lie jah with a hard j?

I have a teenage Elijah it's been an unusual name so far rarely hear of any others, everyone calls him Elijah except us we call him lige (like nige) and lie-geee both sound horrible! He's a clever young man who is also a bit of a character!

Backhometothenorth · 13/10/2017 09:14

There's also a lot of Eliza's around right now and the two sound very similar!!

millifiori · 13/10/2017 09:17

Absolutely love it. Gorgeous name.

MinorRSole · 13/10/2017 11:28

I like it. It makes me think of an actor with long hair- there's an Elijah actor isn't there??

Elijah Wood I think

I love the name, I love biblical names (well some of them)

I love it, and feel the same way about a lot of the old Hebrew names. I have one myself, as do lots of other family members.

It was mentioned upthread- Ezra: what is a fantastic name. Sadly, the only one I've ever met was an arsehole, so I couldn't use the name myself Sad

I met a lovely Asa once, and I loved that. Also like Asher, Reuben, and maybe Elon too. Isaac is lovely but I know a lot of those at the moment!

waterlego6064 · 18/10/2017 21:43

Eeeek editing fail: 'what a fantastic name' that should have said.

NearLifeExperience · 19/10/2017 00:00

I love it.
My youngest DD may have been one if she'd been a boy. It is getting a lot more common now though.

Nonameyet1 · 19/10/2017 06:56

Love it.

Choccyhobnob · 19/10/2017 08:57

I love it.

pipi It can be pronounced with a hard j like jelly or I would pronounce it with a soft j (like the name Jacques), either way it's ee-LIE-jah or EE-lie for short
