Felix or Max... too popular!?

Hi Smile
Expecting my 3rd boy... any day. STILL can't decide on a shortlist of names.
Everything I like is way too popular!

Currently have Jack & William.

We like Felix & Max... but are they really popular!?
I don't know anyone by either name.... but I'm not under 5 years old haha.

Also...
I like Miles... less popular
Oscar... way too popular right?

Felix and Max are both lovely names! I don't think they're outrageously popular.

AccrualIntentions · 10/10/2017 04:56

Felix is on my list. I don't think of it as being that popular? I don't know if any irl, and it only just scrapes into the top 100. I know 2 baby/toddlers called Max and an Oscar.

Rayna37 · 10/10/2017 04:57

They are both great names.

If you want an objective opinion the recent ONS stats are your friend.

Subjectively but very current, of the 6 out of 8 babies born so far from my NCT group, 4 are boys, one is Maxwell and one Felix Oscar.

ChocolateCrunch · 10/10/2017 07:33

Love Felix, Max and Oscar, not so much Miles. Like Milo though. I don't think any are too popular - only know 1 Oscar, who's 8 years old.

I'd probably go for Max if I had to choose 1.

Coffeetasteslikeshit · 10/10/2017 07:35

I prefer Max. Felix will always be a cats name to me.

Oblomov17 · 10/10/2017 07:41

Neither are that popular. I have a preference for Max Wink

pipilangstrumpf · 10/10/2017 07:51

Miles is the most classic, least trendy/popular.

William, Jack and Miles. Lovely combination

blackteasplease · 10/10/2017 09:23

They are both nice. Max has long been popular and probably on the wane now, Felix probably gaining popularity.

It's funny because my grandfather's name means Felix on another language. In his day it was felt necessary to use an English name as people couldn't deal with "foreign" names. Felix was considered such an outrageous name in those days that he called himself Philip.

ujerneyson · 10/10/2017 09:34

Max is pretty much the default name around here, I think that there are about 8 in DS's year alone

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/10/2017 10:07

I love Max.

Jooni · 10/10/2017 10:33

Both are less popular than your other boys' names, Felix by quite a bit. I think both are lovely!

Sophronia · 10/10/2017 12:46

I love Miles! Definitely prefer that to the other options.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 10/10/2017 13:49

Felix is nice and I only know one. Don't think it's too popular at all.

I prefer Oscar though and think it goes better with your other boy names if that's something you're considering.

DemonBaby · 10/10/2017 13:50

I have a two year old Max and I don't know any others!

Lozzabell · 10/10/2017 20:35

Thank you! Argh it's SO hard!

Felix. Such a great name.

Threeandabit · 10/10/2017 21:10

Miles is lovely.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/10/2017 21:12

Felix is really quite unusual I have never met one of any age, Max slightly less so but on saying that I only know one and he's 30 (for him it's not his full name but actual full name is one he detests).

Lymmmummy · 10/10/2017 21:16

Round our way max is popular Felix/Miles less so

EvilCleverDog · 11/10/2017 09:00

I prefer Oscar.

If you're looking for suggestions I think William, Jack and Henry go perfectly together.

mrsgumpy · 11/10/2017 09:08

So many little boys called Max in the circles I move in. I used to love the name (and still do) but it is way too popular now.

cheeriosatdawn · 11/10/2017 09:10

Only one Felix in our (ostensibly rather trendywhatever that means in the context of a bunch of toddlers) nursery. And he's lovely.

sundowners · 11/10/2017 09:44

I know several little Max's and when I go to creches etc I hear of even more. Felix is great and prefer Rex- far less common- to Max by miles too.

Hersetta427 · 11/10/2017 12:03

Where I live every other little boys seems to be a Max, Oscar or a Finley. I don't like Felix but it is definitely not as common.

We don't have any jacks in my son's year although there are 2 Williams.
