Thoughts on Elda??

Our little girl is arriving in 10 days and we don't have a name! I have always wanted Emilia shortened to Emmie but dp has an Amelia in his family (cousins little girl) and although he likes Emmie he thinks it doesn't sound 'professional' enough as an adult.
I am half Italian and Elda is not a name I have heard of here before, but it means 'warrior'. And love Wren as a middle name.
Honest thoughts please! ♡

Amalia is also lovely but definitely too close to Amelia imo.

E names...Elara, Eilis, Elena, Electra, Eleri, Etta, Elke, Elishka are all nice names imo. I also love Elvira but it's too Mistress of the Dark for me!

I think Elda is great. Emilia/Amelia etc too popular/samey

Love it! Very cute but grows nicely too.

Emilia is, to many, pronounced Emil-y-a - it's not a homophone for Amelia. Could you do it like that?

Other 'ilda' names to think about are Matilda, Brunhilda, Clothilda and Bathild (yes, it's a real name as well as a Potter one)

Or the diminutive form - Hilke

Not keen on Elda, sorry.

Maybe Emmeline nn Emmie?

LarkDescending · 09/10/2017 23:07

Or pp's suggestion of Elke, maybe tweaked to Elka?

Elbi · 09/10/2017 23:29

I think Eloise means warrior too. As well as 'healthy'.

I have to say, I don't like the sound of it very much. And it looks like Elsa with a typo (since the D key is next to the S).

Names with a similar sound and/or feel:

Alder
Elke
Ellika (but might not work with Kemp)
Alba
Enya
Ember
Ever
Olga
Orla
