Shortlist at the moment is down to Sophie, Katie (Katherine on BC) or Cleo. Opinions on which to pick please! Or suggestions welcome too.

Cleo......because when she goes to school you can guarantee her class will have one Katherine,Katie or Sophie in it.

Smoliver · 08/10/2017 09:12

Sophie is my name, so obviously I'm going to like that Grin but I also really love Cleo.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/10/2017 09:53

Katherine.

starkid · 08/10/2017 10:12

Cleo :)

Kittykatmacbill · 08/10/2017 10:41

Don’t call her one thing on the bc and then another separate name, my parents did this to me and it’s horrific - it really affects my sense of identify. Just give one name, she can be a high court judge called Katie or what ever the issue is.

Olivelor · 08/10/2017 13:10

Its Cleo for me. It sounds better than Katie IMO.

Inneedofacookeddinner · 08/10/2017 13:30

Kittykat can I ask how it affects your sense of identity? Not being confrontational am genuinely interested as it's quite a common thing to do

PandorasXbox · 08/10/2017 14:26

Sophia is much nicer than Sophie. Prefer Kate to Katie and love Cleo.

BeardyDog8371 · 08/10/2017 16:27

Definitely Cleo.

Kate and Sophie are both very old-fashioned.

BeardyDog8371 · 08/10/2017 16:27

Katie*

early30smum · 08/10/2017 18:39

Like them all! Probably Katie.

CPtart · 08/10/2017 19:26

Katherine but with a C.

ContraryFairy · 08/10/2017 19:43

Katie and Sophie too common. Katherine- don't like it, and why put it on BC if you're going to call you child something else?

Cleo- pretty and a bit different.

What about Honor?

Lana?
Lila?
Lilla?
Josie?

Seren?

BriechonCheese · 08/10/2017 19:44

Katherine but with a C.

bridgetreilly · 08/10/2017 20:03

In order:
Katie
Sophie
Cleo

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 08/10/2017 20:12

Cleo or Katherine. Both very nice.

JKR123 · 08/10/2017 20:13

Not keen on Cleo at all but I really like Katie and Sophie. I'd probably go for Katherine it's a lovely name and Katie is cute for a little girl.

battenbergbutterfly · 08/10/2017 20:15

Cleo - be unique and interesting!

Hebenon · 08/10/2017 21:20

I find the idea of having a (common and generally accepted) nickname as a shortening of a longer more formal name somehow being detrimental to your identity really strange. I can see if you are called Matilda and your parents insist on calling you Mimi which isn't a shortening of that name it might be a bit weird. But Kate/Katie/Kathy are all really well known shortenings of Katherine and most people who meet one will assume she is a Katherine/Catherine. DD has a longish name and is called about four different (reasonably obvious) shortenings by different friendship groups/family members. She says she likes it.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 08/10/2017 21:26

Fwiw, I have a long name on the bc but am never called that by anyone in my family. I'm fine with it. I get not forcing a particular nickname though. She might end up being Kat, Kitty, Kathy or Kate or something.

BlackberryandNettle · 08/10/2017 22:31

Thanks for all the feedback so far and it looks like Cleo or Katharine are winning out, which sort of helps as we slightly prefer them to Sophie too, purely as not keen on nickname Soph. It's occurred to me that there are two spellings for Cleo and a few for Katharine so something else to obsess over...

NikiBabe · 09/10/2017 15:07

VinIsGroot · 09/10/2017 15:21

There was s only one spelling for Cleo... The other is the name of a car!
