I have one of those very annoying DHs who doesn't particularly enjoy the process of picking names for our dc, has absolutely zero suggestions etc. I need to present him with a shortlist for discussion and wondered if you lot could help me whittle it down a bit.

We already have a Jemima and a Cleo.

I like Rupert and Furgus. For girls I think Nancy is pretty! I like Dorothy too. I’m a big fan of old school names. Olive is lovely with with Olivia being the top name this year I think I would steer clear

Wishfulmakeupping · 05/10/2017 11:57

I like Rufus and Rupert best from you boy choices- Gideon is lovely but not sure it flows as well with your dd name's.
Out of you girl choices l love the name Georgia, Noelle, Martha and Wren are also really nice.

auntym · 05/10/2017 11:58

From your list I like Otis and Martha best. I would remove Judah, Zebedee, Paloma and Ramona and suggest the addition of Jonah.

user1499786242 · 05/10/2017 11:59

Rupert and olive 😍

Ginandplatonic · 05/10/2017 11:59

With your existing names I like Rupert for a boy (or Rufus, but you'll get the "dog name" thing) and Verity for a girl.

yasmin05 · 05/10/2017 12:01

I'll go for Gideon and Aubrey! :)

lovelyjubilly · 05/10/2017 12:02

Argh you've all said different things! Grin

I love Rupert and Rufus, and Juniper and Nancy.

Suggestion:- Tristan and Calypso.

Sophronia · 05/10/2017 12:30

Amos and Ramona

Chaffinch4 · 05/10/2017 12:38

Lots of lovely names. I'd say ramona or jasper.

octoberfarm · 05/10/2017 12:45

I love Caspian, Jasper, Juniper, Olive and Wren!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/10/2017 12:52

Boys.I only like Otis and Casper is a nice alternative to Caspian. Gideon is ghastly. Just makes me think you know who.

Girls.
Love Dorothy. Rosa Tansy and Georgia.

TempsPerdu · 05/10/2017 12:53

From your boys' list I'd keep Jasper, Rufus and Austin. Quite like Caspian and Zebedee, but they're too 'out there' for me (although I do love Zeb as a nickname). Not keen on the others.

Really like lots of your girls' choices - would keep Alba, Hazel, Juniper, Nancy, Wren, Verity and Rosa.

Favourites are Rufus and either Hazel or Rosa (we're expecting a DD in December and these are both on our shortlist).

Ptol · 05/10/2017 13:52

Caspian
Amos
Rupert

Love Wren for a girl that's beautiful.

Argeles · 05/10/2017 14:29

Austin, Jasper or Rupert.

Audrey, Noelle or Paloma.

ChocolateCrunch · 05/10/2017 15:27

I love your DDs names!

From your list:
Jasper or Rupert
Audrey or Martha

manicinsomniac · 05/10/2017 18:03

Ooooh, I know someone who has a Jemima and a Cleo. Unfortunately they don't have any others for me to suggest to you for your 3rd - unless they are in fact you and I just don't know you're pregnant!

BOYS:
Amos - not keen. Bit old man, old testament for me.
Austin - quite like it. American vibe but that's not a bad thing.
Basil - Fawlty. Sorry, I can't separate those two names in my mind.
Caspian - quite like it though I do tend to mentally put 'Prince' with it.
Fergus - like it. Solid but quite unusual
Gideon - not keen but can't really articulate why not.
Jasper - like it.
Judah - like it
Levi - not keen. Makes me think of the jeans.
Otis - the aardvark. Sorry, I have too many associations with names!
Rufus - quite like it but it seems more like a dog's name
Rupert - like it. Quite posh.
Zebedee - like it. Seems quite edgy and cool.

GIRLS:
Alba - like it. Pretty but simple and unusual
Allegra - really like it. Seems elegant and sophisticated
Alma - don't like it, even though it's only 1 letter different to Alba!
Annie - not keen. Really like Annabelle and Anna though.
Audrey - really don't like this at all. Sounds old fashioned and harsh.
Coral - it's ok but not really keen
Dorothy - it's ok but a bit 'old lady' for me.
Georgia - quite like it but much prefer Georgina
Hazel - like it
Juniper - really like it
Martha - like it
Nancy - don't like this at all
Noelle - like it
Olive - really dislike this but Olivia is pretty
Paloma - quite like it. Very sophisticated
Ramona - love it. Romy is cute too
Rosa - quite like it but prefer Rose and Rosie
Tansy - love it. Unusual and cute.
Verity - love it. Classy but cool.
Wren - it's ok but don't really get the love for this name.

I think Austin or Zebedee and Ramona or Tansy go best with Jemima and Cleo.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/10/2017 18:11

Jemima, Cleo and Noelle
Jemima, Cleo and Nancy
Jemima, Cleo and Wren

Jemima, Cleo and Austin
Jemima, Cleo and Rufus

Olivelor · 05/10/2017 18:50

There are lots to choose from! I would go for Fergus and Jasper. From girl's names I think Verity and Wren are nice. Easter Smile

user1459464195 · 05/10/2017 19:27

My favourites for your sibset are Rufus or Rupert for a boy and Nancy for a girl.

I would scrap Coral as it's too close to Cleo for me and Juniper is too similar to Jemima.

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/10/2017 19:30

Amos - I like it. It's different
Austin - not a fan
Basil - Not a fan
Caspian - nice enough
Fergus - gorgeous name
Gideon - I want to like it but I just dont
Jasper - nice
Judah - love it
Levi - hate it
Otis - nice pet name
Rufus - love it
Rupert - love it
Zebedee - I liked this when pregnant but blame the hormones. It's awful lol

Alba - nice enoygh
Allegra - it's ok
Alma - gorgeous
Annie - love it
Audrey - lovely name
Coral - love it
Dorothy - love it
Georgia - like it
Hazel - great name
Juniper - just makes me think of gin
Martha - nice enough
Nancy - dislike
Noelle - nice enough
Olive - love it
Paloma - I really like it but it's strongly associated with Palin's Faith and whilst she's not that big I think celebrities with unusual names become more well known than they would of been if they'd been called Sarah
Ramona - dislike
Rosa - lovely name
Tansy - as a nn maybe
Verity - on I just think it sounds rather serious
Wren - nice as a middle name

leafy6354 · 05/10/2017 20:48
