Currently 34 weeks and thinking seriously about our shortlist of names now! We're set with our girls name but we're still debating boys names. We love names that are short and sweet and we don't mind if they're generally thought of as nicknames rather than full first names! We love Pip (although normally short for Phillip) and Jem (which we guess is short for Jeremy or James!) but are struggling to think of other names in that style! Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Not keen on Jules.
I know a gorgeous little Jem so I'm biased towards it. Definitely my favourite from your list.

I liked Jem too until I looked up the meaning, which is "supplanter" (to oust someone and take over their patch/land). This may not bother you but thought it better to mention it.

auntym James and Jacob mean the same and they're doing ok!

jmscp2015 · 03/10/2017 07:25

I love Jem, although my female cat is called Jem so I couldn’t ever use it now (We have a Jem and Scout - sisters, I thought they where a boy and a girl! LolBlush)

Jooni those weren't on my list so I wouldn't have known! I get it, not everyone is as motivated by the meaning of a name as me (classic over thinker):"Smile

I know a Jed & a Jim. Both their given names & not short for anything.

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/10/2017 10:44

Jem is short for Jeremy, not James
