Baby girl names?

HALashley · 01/10/2017 16:24

Hi I'm new here and just joined last night. So far I have only posted in the style and beauty thread, but I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with me and my boyfriend's first baby, which we recently found out is going to be a girl!

So we have been going over some names, and we would really like to hear your opinions on our list so far?

Haley
Maxine
Alexis
Kristen/Kristin
Martine
Halle/Halley (we prefer Halley)
Sydney (a bit different we know)

So, what do you think of these names? Which would you say you like the best out of them? And if it's not too much trouble could you maybe rank them? Thank you very much Flowers

I think Halley is my favourite of these, reminds me of The Parent Trap, which I loved when I was younger. My least favourite is Maxine because my Granny made me watch Coronation street with her years ago and I remember for some reason really not liking the character!

HALashley · 01/10/2017 16:46

Oh almost forgot Serra. It's not a common name at all but we thought that it was really pretty

The MN baby name section can be very harsh so beware! They're all quite 70's names, but that means that they're well known without being overused at the moment. Have never met a baby Maxine!

In order:

Alexis
Kristen
Halle
Hayely
Serra
Martine
Maxine
Sydney

Sophronia · 01/10/2017 17:27

I have a cousin named Hallie. I prefer that spelling.

I like Martine and don’t mind Maxine.

Heratnumber7 · 01/10/2017 17:28

Alexis - prefer Alexa
Kristen - meh
Halle - how do you pronounce it?
Hayely - is it pronounced differently to name above?

Serra - prefer Sarah (guessing same pronoun cost ion
Martine meh
Maxine not bad
Sydney prefer Sidney, but for a boy.

HALashley · 01/10/2017 17:28

Thanks for the heads up! Harsh I can deal with, as long as there's no outright rude or mean comments. Thank you for ranking the names, there's just so many that we like so we are looking for other opinions to help us kind of narrow it down.

Didn't know theu were 70s names though lol. Nice to know!

Sorry, Halley is pronounced Hal-ee.

I like Alexis & Kristen

Prefer Martina to Martine

Not particularly keen on the others tbh

Petalflowers · 01/10/2017 17:37

Love Hayley.

Alexis - reminds me of Amazon device ‘ask Alexis’...

Other names okay.

NovaArt3mis · 01/10/2017 17:41

My order would be very similar to nuffsaid's. Alexis and Halley (spelled like the comment, not Berry) at one at two. They're lovely.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/10/2017 17:48

Haley - feels a bit dated
Maxine - I really like it especially Max on a girl
Alexis - meh, Alexandra is better
Kristen/Kristin - dislike
Martine - ugky
Halle/Halley (we prefer Halley) - I prefer Hallie but it's a nice name
Sydney (a bit different we know) - lovely

I would say they all sound very American.

Favourites are Maxine and Sydney

Least favourite is Martine

Threeandabit · 01/10/2017 18:03

I like: -

Kristin
Maxine
Martine

Happy choosing, op Smile

chasingdaisy2 · 01/10/2017 18:10

I like Halley. Have you considered Indi / Indy? I love that name. Sounds similar style to what you like.

HALashley · 01/10/2017 18:41

At first I wasn't too keen, but I actually quite like Indy! It's pretty Smile

I like all of them except Alexis which just has Joan Collins written all over it. The only Sydney I can think of is OJ's daughter but it's a nice name for boy or girl imo.
Halley is like Halley's comet which is great

Happinesssssss · 01/10/2017 18:50

I only like Alexis!

Needalifeoverhaul · 01/10/2017 18:51

Martine, Maxine, Kristen, Hailey Halley, Sydney, Alexis

FizzyGreenWater · 01/10/2017 18:53

I love Sydney, very classy. And yes that's the female spelling.

Also quite like Maxine.

Nadine seems to fit with your choices too.

They're all 70s names - these and others like Melanie, Lisa, Claire etc are going to be all the rage in five years time!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/10/2017 20:25

I really like Maxine !

Phoebe001 · 01/10/2017 21:31

MartinA ♥️

kelly14 · 01/10/2017 21:48

I have a 12 yr old girl called Sydney and I love it , there was a few other Sydney's at her primary and there are a few with different spellings at her senior school.

Also like Halley x

Jakeyboy1 · 01/10/2017 22:08

I quite like Sydney for a girl - there are 2 at my daughters school so not so rare.

Maxine and some of the others sound a bit 80s to me! )'(I know someone said 70s - technicalities!)

Alexis reminds me of Dynasty!

LostwithSawyer · 01/10/2017 22:54

I really like Sydney.

HALashley · 01/10/2017 23:04

I'm glad Sydney's getting a bit of love here! I've never met another Sydney so it's a surprise to hear that there's a few in schools! It's been one of my fave names since I was about 10 years old :)
