How many baby Isabelles/Isabellas/Isabels/Isobels do you know?

Please can you help me out with a straw poll? I'm drawn to unusual names but my hubby has been rejecting all of them because they "don't sound like names". He loves Isobel.

I think it's beautiful but from ONS 2016 list, seems like when you put together all of the various spellings it is one of the most popular names (even THE most popular name) for girls. I don't want her to be one of a few Isobels in her class.

We don't know many babies - those of you who have babies, how many little Isabels/Isobels/Isabelles/Isabellas/Isabelas/Izabels (that's on the ONS list as well) do you know?

Thanks!

Dozens - every other baby/child I meet is an Izzy, Isabelle, Isobel, Isabella etc.

bellalou1234 · 26/09/2017 15:34

I love that name. I don't know any x

mummytwoh · 26/09/2017 15:34

My son is 5 and has 5 in his class in its various forms. There's quite a few in the older year groups and I know 2 under 3.
It's a beautiful name though so can see why it's populated

Unihorn · 26/09/2017 15:35

I know 3 under 2.

kimball · 26/09/2017 15:36

3 all under age of 4

Smoliver · 26/09/2017 15:37

I know a couple of Isabella's and am related to one Isabelle. All three go by Izzy, which can be confusing.

I do like the spelling of Isobel though - a bit more uncommon/unique atm

PotteringAlong · 26/09/2017 15:38

Masses

AuntieStella · 26/09/2017 15:39

Babies, none.

Oodles aged about 6-11.

Beautiful name, btw

Doowappydoo · 26/09/2017 15:40

Lots. Rough calculation I know 4 Isabelle's, 3 Isabella's, 2 Isobel's, 1 Isabel. Age range from 4-12.

LostwithSawyer · 26/09/2017 15:42

I know 3 Isabelles 1 bella but no isobels.

orangeowls · 26/09/2017 15:43

I know two Isabelle’s as friends babies and then in my baby group there are two too, so I know four in total.

Tiredmum100 · 26/09/2017 15:47

I know one, my good friends baby who's a few months old. I love the name, even if it isn't made up, exotic, or one of a kind.

InDubiousBattle · 26/09/2017 15:50

Lots. 7 under 5 years old.

mrscee · 26/09/2017 15:51

I know one Isabella which is my daughter but plenty of Isabel's Isobel Isabelle.

VinoTime · 26/09/2017 15:52

Loads.

It's in the same camp as Sophie, Sophia, Amelia and Olivia, OP. It's INCREDIBLY popular, whatever it's variation. And it's popular in most pockets.

My DD's name falls under the top 20, but it's not widely used at all in the pocket of Scotland that we're in. DD is the only one in her school with the name, so I'm glad I went with it as opposed to Isla - there are 6 Isla's, and it's a very small school!

stargirl1701 · 26/09/2017 15:52

One. DD1.

I'm in Scotland. Not even in the top 30 here.

RuthW · 26/09/2017 15:53

I work somewhere where I get to know all the baby names. It’s been very very popular the last five years along with Arabella, Annabelle/a

inuinnit · 26/09/2017 15:53

Thanks all..! exactly what I was expecting (i.e. ridiculously popular) but I guess it's popular for a reason as it is a lovely name.

I'm in London/SE. We could use it and immediately move to Scotland perhaps...?

I don't have kids myself yet but can think of at least 8 Isabellas just from friends and acquaintances' kids. Only one Isobel.

Heathen4Hire · 26/09/2017 15:56

One. She's the class b*tch.

WishingCarrot · 26/09/2017 15:56

I know of four. Two of which are FB friends children that I've never met or unlikely to meet. One is another child at dd nursery - think there's only two there.

My favourite variation is Isobel.

Gorgeous name.

MeganChips · 26/09/2017 16:04

I have a teenage Isobel. She was named just before/around the time it became crazily popular. There has always been one other in her class.

To be honest it doesn't bother her and it doesn't bother me. I have a popular name but I always automatically liked anyone else with my name! I felt a strange kinship with them.

grasspigeons · 26/09/2017 16:10

I don't really know many babies as I'm not in that stage, but I work in an infant school and it is the most popular girls name we have on roll. Just ahead of Alice which I didn't think was that popular. Then there are all the eve/eva/ava names.
