As we picked quite an unusual name for our son, Etienne, we are trying to think of different names for our next one. What are people's thoughts on the following?

The girls names I like:
Otillie
Georgina
Alexandra (Alex)
Saffron (Saffy)
Romilly (Milly)
Clementine (Clemmie)
Dulcie

Boys:
Otto
Jude
Louis
Levison
Wilfred (Wilf)
Maximilian (Max)
Rafe

I want to throw Georgiana into the mix op gives you George as nn but more unusual than Georgina.

It wasn't prounounced like that in France - I thought Etty-en too but it sounded more like Etch-enn....

I have nothing to add but love the name Etienne!

ladybirdsaredotty · 19/09/2017 21:00

I'd love to call DS (due soon) Etienne but one of his sisters (who also have French names, for no reason except that we liked them) has a similar name so we can't.

Anyway, Jude and Louis are high up our list. I love Clementine for a girl, too Smile

dublinia · 22/10/2017 09:20

Aurelie

Aureservoir · 22/10/2017 09:22

Ottilie / Otto. Though I like Odette, too.

mctat · 22/10/2017 09:25

Love Aurelie! Or Aurelia - lovely with Etienne!

Ploppie4 · 22/10/2017 09:26

Otto

Ploppie4 · 22/10/2017 09:27

Aurora or similar for a girl.

Dusktilldawn · 22/10/2017 09:28

All lovely names but Wilf doesn't go.

PinkFlamingo888 · 22/10/2017 11:34

I like Otillie and Otto but think that they sound a bit similar to Etienne with the t sound at the beginning.

Romilly would be nice for a girl because it's still uncommon but has a different sound to Etienne. From your boy list I personally love Jude and again I just like that it has a different sound to Etienne.
My favourite French girl name is Noelie and I also love Amelie but looking at your list I think you would prefer something less common?

Interesting we our children have unusual names no two of them have been mentioned:

Lysander and Celeste.

I like all your options except Dulcie, Saffron and Wilfred.

Or:

Estelle or Stella
Claudia
Opthelia
Margot

Lorcan
Fraser
Sebastian

SP00KYLilBucket1 · 22/10/2017 11:38

Otillie is gorgeous and I love the suggestion of Odette!.

Daffydil · 22/10/2017 11:41

Surprised no one had suggested Eldoie or Genevieve yet.

I love Ottilie, I know one who goes by ottie which is sweet.

Jooni · 22/10/2017 12:44

I love pretty much all of your boys’ names OP, and Clementine (prefer Clemence though) for a girl.

Xanthe or Celeste?

Jooni · 22/10/2017 12:44

Or Saskia perhaps?

NinonDeLenclos · 22/10/2017 13:59

I like all of them except Saffron and Dulcie, Levison and Wilfred.

Other suggestions:

Capucine
Sebastian

dublinia · 22/10/2017 19:23

Esme

numbmum83 · 22/10/2017 23:12

I was thinking of Celeste . I like Otilie too . Also Jude

NikiBabe · 23/10/2017 03:12

Alexandra for a girl

I like Jude but have you also considered Jules? It is in the top 10 French boys names and goes with Etienne nicely.

dublinia · 23/10/2017 07:30

Clemency

Enwi · 23/10/2017 07:34

I think Clementine goes really well with Etienne.
What about Fleur?

Subla2401 · 23/10/2017 08:54

I also love Ottilie, nn Ottie 😊

Neverknowing · 23/10/2017 09:05

Ottilie is beautiful. I also think Cecilia/Cecile ?

dublinia · 23/10/2017 23:30
