Traditional OH

So OH likes very traditional (almost 'posh' names) whereas I like more quirky names. Our DD has a traditional name and we use a quirky diminutive, thus fitting both of our criteria. But for DC number two we can not agree on a boys name at all! We had the same problem with DC 1 so it was handy she was a girl really!
The closest we have got is Oscar nn Oz but it doesn't feel like the one and I feel Oscars are 10 a penny ATM. Any ideas mumsnetters? Feel like I've searched forever.

You could use something like Saul, which is very traditional (Biblical), but which is uncommon enough that it's "quirky". Plus, Slash from Guns N' Roses' name is Saul.

Or Orson/Bear?

Chaffinch4 · 19/09/2017 15:42

The Jed in the West Wing (president) is Josiah which is a very cool name. Could also be Jose for short.

BikeRunSki · 19/09/2017 17:01

Or do something with initials:
Daniel John/DJ
Kenneth Charles/KC or Casey

Mewith · 19/09/2017 17:08

How about Percival (little Percy) ? :)

Yourshakraishangingout · 19/09/2017 17:27

Lots to go on!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/09/2017 23:08

Alexander. Not quirky nor terribly posh, but A very handsome and strong yet gentle name.
(Zander Alex)

HaHaHmm · 20/09/2017 23:14

Alexander can also give you Sasha.

boredofmyoldname · 20/09/2017 23:20

I like the JJ idea as it seems a bit more of a natural nn if that makes sense but how I about:

Fergus - Fergie/Gus
Vincent - Vinnie/Vince
Jesse
Graham - Gray
Patrick - Paddy
Bryce
Richard - Ricco
Niall - Al
Stephen - Ste

I know a Jacob who goes by Bear, because of the "Cub" part. Pretty cool really but he still has a proper name to fall back on too!
