Are Joanna and Joseph too similar?

It's fine as a first name and middle name but I wouldn't use them as both first names as only one of them could use the nickname Jo/Joe

I'd say yes if they were both first names as they'll both inevitably be shortened to Jo/Joe. But I think that's fine if one is a middle name. Other than a birth announcement nobody really uses a middle name daily anyway.

I knew a Joanne who had a baby Joseph. Actually it never occurred to me that they were similar at all!
