I heard this today at a soft play. She was only about 1yr old, and had an older sister India. What do you think? I kind of think it's cute, but a bit try hard.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Dustbunny1900 · 21/09/2017 16:25

Sounds wicked cutesy

HaHaHmm · 21/09/2017 19:23

lollipop Speak for yourself. You have no idea where I am or what my heritage is (or, indeed, that of OP).

You knew perfectly well that you were making a bitchy comment, hence your 'can't believe I'm writing this'.

ScarletForYa · 21/09/2017 19:45

It's a verb, it sounds stupid.

Scribblegirl · 21/09/2017 19:46

I know a Cherish but she is of African decent. Like it or not I think people will make an assumption about ethnicity.

ClashCityRocker · 21/09/2017 19:53

I'd be worried it would be converted to 'Chez' or even worse, 'chezza'

reup · 21/09/2017 19:56

I worked with someone called Cherish - so she obviously passed an interview. She's was white British and about to start an MA.

greendale17 · 21/09/2017 19:58

Chavtastic

@HaHaHmm I was speaking for myself. So what if it was a bit bitchy, get over it. In my opinion it's a name that connotes something in particular, that being it. This is a baby names thread just in case you need it pointing out it's a bit lighthearted and of course subjective

It was in fact you that decided to speak for more than merely yourself and instead for a vast swathe of a continent by introducing their use of this name in the context of a cultural paradigm.

Hope that clears things up for you 😊

MikeUniformMike · 21/09/2017 22:11

I think it's ok. Quite pretty. It might suggest an ethnic background. I think I might expect a Cherish to be Filipino or Nigerian.

Somanythings · 25/09/2017 20:45

I love the name Cherish, first time I heard it was on master chef a few weeks back

I know a very lovely little girl called Cherish. Nothing chavvy about it at all Greendale
