The trouble with Christabel

DP and I are very fond of the name Christabel, for DD2, due very soon.

It goes really well with DD1's name and it was on our shortlist for her.

The stumbling block, then and now however, is shortening it. She's always going to end up being Chrissie, isn't she? And I really dislike that as a nickname.

Even if we insist on using her full name or using Bel or something, you can't really force people to do as you say, can you, especially as she grows up.

What do you think? Is it such an inevitable nickname that we should just ditch it altogether?

Oh I LOVE Tabby as a nn! My instant first thought was Belle, or even Bella. As people have said, if she has a nn from day dot it will most likely stick. Go for it OP!

Christabel is lovely. I don't think Chrissy is inevitable.

I don't think any nickname is inevitable. Make up your own and stick with it. Christabel is a fabulous name.

I like Christa or you could even go with Bella type nicknames. She may not ever have nicknames but bear in mind she may choose her own at some point so could be any of those mentioned

I would naturally shorten to Chris I think.

I work with a Christabel and she is always called her whole name :)
