Dylan spelt like this.

zjma6 · 08/09/2017 11:16

Dylan 😀😀

daisypond · 08/09/2017 11:26

I like Dylan, but I'd pronounce it the English way, which is no doubt wrong. I think most people might say Dillan and not Dullan, unless they know.

MrsJayy · 08/09/2017 11:39

What is the English way your post genuinely confused me surely Dylan is pronounced Dylan iConfused

daisypond · 08/09/2017 11:46

I would pronounce Dylan as Dillan, the "English" way, which no doubt is wrong/ignorant/lacking in effort. But it's a Welsh name and should be pronounced Dullan or something like that. No doubt Welsh speakers can correct me.

MrsJayy · 08/09/2017 12:07

I think the welsh pronounce it Dillion too ☺

grufallosfriend · 08/09/2017 12:12

Dylan

Blake sounds harsh and surnamey (e.g. Quentin Blake)

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/09/2017 12:32

We Welsh pronounce it Duh- lan.

Wtf is Dillion?

EdmundCleverClogs · 08/09/2017 12:41

MrsJayy, I've only ever met Dylans which are pronounced 'Duh-lan'. If it must be anglicised, Dillon/Dillan is a more appropriate spelling. Much like Rhys and Reese.

daisypond · 08/09/2017 12:44

The Welsh Y is more like an English "uh". The Welsh pronunciation is Dullan, more or less. But the anglicised pronunciation of "Dillan" is now much more common everywhere, I assume, probably down to Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas, who used the anglicised pronunciation, I think.

Dylan best but I also like Blake

Glumglowworm · 08/09/2017 13:27

Dylan

PointlessUsername · 08/09/2017 13:28

Blake is much Nicer than Dylan imo.
