I have an Isadora who gets Dora and it's a beautiful name on her, suits her to a tee and everyone who knows her has fallen in love with the name. I've had a few "Dora the explorer" comments but tbh who cares, and who even watches it?? (Far too American).

My vote is for Theodora just because it lends itself to Dora better IMO and I'm totally biased :)

Theodora

Theodora nn Thea

I think both are pretty but I'd probably go Dorothea nn. Dot, simply because Theo/Ted/Teddy are so ridiculously popular for boys at the moment, which might sound tenuous but it's the link my brain made.

I had both on my list for my dc (2 boys in the end!). Theodora was going to have nn Teddy while young and Dorothea was going to be Dot. I think Dorothea would have won out for us if ds2 had been a girl. I met an old friend of my parents with the name and she was so elegant and impressive at 80 I instantly loved the name.

Comes down to do you prefer Dotty or Teddy? Not sure i could do either of those to a girl to be honest.

Theodora. It sounds little more modern and a slightly stronger sounding name.

GinIsIn · 07/09/2017 08:59

I like them both!

choice44554 · 07/09/2017 09:13

Dorothea is lovely. And nn dot or Dottie I love

If you've got a dog called Toto, definitely go for Dorothea!

demirose87 · 07/09/2017 09:19

Don't really like either but Theadora is nicer than dorothea.

Dorothea. Just because it's my SIL's name and she is lovely.
