Had a boy in the early hours of this morning and we are struggling for a name for him.
He has a brother James William and sisters Elizabeth Rose and Florence May.
I like Alexander, Henry, Thomas, Edward ( love Ted) Luke.
Charles is a family name but I'm not sure as a first name but I would be happy as a middle name.
Our surname starts with L and ends in a eeeee sound ( as in teddy)
What else might I like? Fire away! Thank you.

Edward Charles is lovely and would go nicely with the others, although you'd have two first names beginning with E then.

What about Theodore if you like the Ted nicknames? Theodore Charles sounds good too.

Congratulations on your new arrival!

Christobel51 · 06/09/2017 14:30

Thanks for the reply.......I like both your suggestions......I like Theo......although Theodore sounds quite grand for a little one doesn't it, but they grow up don't they!
I think Charles makes a better middle name than first name, again because it is quite a grand name but it would be good to use the family name.
Need to have a think!

Congratulations!

How about Rupert? I love the nn Roo.

Benjamin, George, Samuel?

MammieBear · 06/09/2017 14:49

Alexander as it will give you and him loads of options as he grows up and it goes lovely with Charles as a middle, second would be Thomas again lots of options, then I would probably put Henry, Edward and Luke with those sibling names. Congratulations 🎊 I'm sure you will find the perfect one, as you look at him and call the names see which one he looks at you with.

LarkDescending · 06/09/2017 14:56

Congratulations!

Would Nicholas, Patrick, Michael appeal?

LarkDescending · 06/09/2017 15:01

Or Arthur, David or Peter?

LarkDescending · 06/09/2017 15:07

Adam, Matthew or Sebastian?

I think that's enough from me! Do let us know what you choose.

Sequence · 06/09/2017 15:09

The thanks everyone, some good suggestions. I like Benjamin and Samuel but my husband is less keen.
I think my favourite is Alexander...... But my husband prefers just Alex. I like to give a long name that can be shortened in different ways as they grow up and decide for themselves. I might just have to work on him! I think Alexander goes well with Charles or Thomas.
Henry I like but it is pretty popular..... He could end up as one of 3 or 4 in his class at school!
Nicholas we can't use as its a cousins name ( same surname!) and Michael is a family name we would rather not use!!!! I like Patrick but my husband thinks it's " too Irish" !
I'm not that keen on "old man" names although I love some of the "old lady" names....hence Florence for my daughter. So no Arthur or Albert etc.

Alexander is lovely.

I was going to suggest Nicholas, but I've just seen you can't use it.

What about:

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/09/2017 17:50

Edmund Henry (Ted).

Christobel51 · 06/09/2017 20:18

Apparently Benjamin is a possibility. But Alexander is now definitely not.....which is a shame because I had virtually decided was the name!!!! Apparently if I had pinned him down earlier in the day, he would have agreed to Alexander but now he doesn't want it!!!! Sigh!

Edward Charles. Gorgeous name. Done and done. Stop over thinking and congratulations!!

numbmum83 · 07/09/2017 03:16

Edward or Henry would be the 2 names I would put with your other children's name's. You have a royal theme in a sort of way going on !

numbmum83 · 07/09/2017 03:18

I would say Henry or Edward go vest with your other children's name's, They have royalty sounding names ..

George
Harry
Rueben

Notsure1234 · 07/09/2017 05:48

In the same position here with similar taste in names! Ds2 born yesterday evening and we can't agree. We already have Edward Frank John.

Names we can't use but would if not already taken are Frank and Charles (Charlie).

Our shortlist so far:
Henry
Sebastien
Frederick (Fred, not keen on Freddie)
Ernest
Lewis
Louis

So difficult! For a girl we would have gone with Matilda or Florence

bridgetreilly · 07/09/2017 11:19

Richard Charles
Oliver Charles
Peter Charles
Jacob Charles
Hereward Charles

Christobel51 · 07/09/2017 15:41

Thanks everyone.....and thanks sequence and eggs for the epic lists!
I quite like Robert but husband is less keen.....I also quite like George.
I really like Henry and wish we could go with it but I just feel it's too popular.....
He can't be nameless forever!!!
