I'm 37 weeks pregnant with second baby (don't know if it's a boy or a girl). Got a few options for girl names but am really struggling with boys!
Would be good to hear some thoughts on our (shaky) shortlist and also any suggestions...
We ideally want a name that has a good 'short' option as I always seem to shorten names :) (Btw know this is different from an actual nickname as you can't determine what they might be!)

Thoughts so far:
Jago (DH's favourite and I like it but not convinced by jay which is think is what it'd inevitably get shortened to...)

Raphael (Raf/Raffy/Rafa for short...I like this but DH less keen)

Ambrose (what would potential nn be?!)

Abraham (Abe)

Any suggestions gratefully received!
TIA

Love them all, especially Jago and Abraham. How about Solomon (Sol)?

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/09/2017 18:26

I really like Abraham but I'd shorten to Bram not Abe

Also love Raphael nn Raffie. Rafferty as an alternative?

I like Abraham (Abe) best.

Nathaniel (Nat, Nate)
Joseph/Josiah (Joe)
Solomon (Sol)
Thomas (Tom)
Edwin (Ed)
Alexander (Alex, Xander)
Gabriel (Gabe)
Raymond (Ray)
Cassius/Caspar (Cass)
Theodore (Theo)
Leopold (Leo)

Jason and Gabriel are nice, I'm not so keen on your choices

Some good ideas thanks - I like Solomon! Also like Cassius but Cass sounds really similar to my name so might be a bit confusing...

Think I'm finding it hard too cos I'm a teacher so certain names are ruled out as they are just too associated with particular children for me! Confused

Abel (Abe)
Caleb (Cal)
Benedict (Ned)
Joseph (Joss)
Marcus (Mac)

Sorry, they are all too old fashioned for my taste.

PanannyPanoo · 05/09/2017 20:15

Beaumont. (beau or Monty)
Rafferty
Django

Auntiedahlia · 05/09/2017 20:16

All but Jago, which is a horse's name to me.

junebirthdaygirl · 05/09/2017 20:54

Ambrose around here is shortened to Amby
I don' t get how you think Abraham and Ambrose are less oldfashioned than Benedict or Abel.
What about Malachi ( Mal)
