Just for fun. I was seriously tempted to use this name for dd when I was expecting but didn't. Out of interest would you?

No

Glowerglass · 28/08/2017 19:40

I have it earmarked for my next cat. That or Ishtar.

Blueemeraldagain · 28/08/2017 20:04

I actually really like it as a word/name but wouldn't as it is so tied to one character and we don't know how she will turn out yet.

BlueberryPuffin · 28/08/2017 21:30

Not in a million years.

Liadain · 28/08/2017 23:06

Lololol. No.
Khaleesi is worse though...

If I had to go with a GOT girl's name, I think I could get away with Arya, Brienne, Catelyn, Lyanna or Yara. Cersei, Nymeria and Missandei have a certain ring to them too!

CatchIt · 28/08/2017 23:53

No. My horse is called Daenerys and I really don't like it. I changed her name a bit (it's unlucky to change a horses name apparently) but I have to use it if I go out to shows which will be really embarrassing!

UterusUterusGhali · 29/08/2017 00:12

Two of the four babies I saw at work today were called Arya Hmm

MargotLovedTom1 · 29/08/2017 00:30

Quite like Ellaria, and Loras or Lancel for a boy. Wouldn't use them though!

MissClimpsonsTypingBureau · 29/08/2017 04:52

I know a toddler Arya.

Think you could get away with Arya, Brienne and Asha/ Yara, and definitely Bran/ Robb/ Jon. Otherwise no GOT!

Lemondrop99 · 29/08/2017 15:58

Hell no.

I dislike all the GOT names doing the rounds currently (and I'm a GOT fan). Khaleesi is the worst. Theon is a nice name but bad connotations. Arya will date so badly.

I know a friend who has an Aria and gets really annoyed when people ask if it's from GOT.

I'm a big Potter fan too, but wouldn't use obvious Potter names either.

Why saddle a child with something they may have no interest in? Imagine constantly being linked to and questioned about something you hate but your parents loved? Keep your interests separate and give your child their own name.

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 29/08/2017 16:39

No.

Remember when people were naming their daughters Renesmee (from Twilight). Well it's just as fucking lame as that.

PuppyMonkey · 29/08/2017 16:46

Ooh, listen to you lot - I bet everyone said the same thing about Wendy after Peter Pan... Grin

I don't see why Arya is considered ok, but not Danearys or whatever you call her...

TBH, I think all the GoT names are probably best left for cats now. Including Jon Snow.

MammieBear · 29/08/2017 16:58

Nope from me also.

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 29/08/2017 19:22

PuppyMonkey - Arya is actually a real name, it has Persian and Indian roots, so that's the difference.

MikeUniformMike · 29/08/2017 20:33

Nerys is ok. Daenerys is a No.
