Name list for girl

Hi all. I had a thread a few weeks ago and after some thinking, here is my shortlist of names. Would love to hear some opinions!

Mary is the middle name, I'm not open to hearing variations on it, but happy to hear any thoughts or alternatives on the first names - just not anglicising the Irish names. They all work nicely with the surname too!

Elara Mary
Roise Mary
Carmen Mary
Liadain Mary
Saoirse Mary
Mariela Mary
Hazel Mary
Melissa Mary

I also like the following:

Maren, Liberty, Electra, Amity, Azalea, Bryony, Laurel, Naomi, Eliana, Zinnia, Catalina

Unfortunately some were a bit too out there for Ireland imo, and some just don't work with my surname.

Thanks in advance Smile

Bryony is my favourite

Carouselfish · 26/08/2017 23:22

Mine and my daughter's names are on there...so good taste OP!

Those aside, I like Maren and can imagine Catalina with an Irish accent would be lovely!

mooneyboo · 26/08/2017 23:51

I like Liadain Mary and Carmen Mary- they flow well.

TBH I'd consider Catalina, Eliana and Mariela to be very obviously Spanish and Italian names so unless you are from there or have a connection to there (which you may well do) I'd find them a bit strange, especially with Mary.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 27/08/2017 00:25

I like Elara and Mariela (you could also spell it Mariella), also Liadain (how is it pronounced?). I also like Maren a lot, but don't think it goes so well with Mary. I think Elara's my favourite.

manicinsomniac · 27/08/2017 02:51

I like Elara, Carmen, Mariela and Melissa. Elara is probably my favourite.

Also love Electra, Bryony, Naomi and Zinnia but I imagine that list has all been ruled out and is just for style info?

My favourite Irish girls name is Sorcha (though I've only known one and it was pronounced Soh-ruh-kuh which I love. I've seen people on mn say it should actually be Saw-shuh which I don't really like). Also really like Niamh, Keira and Kayleigh

WildCherryBlossom · 27/08/2017 03:43

I like Mariela Mary and Melissa Mary (I am fond of alliteration). But I also love Catalina so much 💕

Jooni · 27/08/2017 03:46

Carmen, Róise and Líadáin are gorgeous! I like Saoirse but it's still quite politically loaded as a name IMO. I love Róisín too. Will you be using the fadas?

Applesandpears56 · 27/08/2017 04:50

Saorise Mary is lovely and nearly what we called our dd!

MammieBear · 27/08/2017 08:42

Hazel Mary stands out on your list to me.

MammieBear · 27/08/2017 08:43

Or how about Niamh?

ilivebythesea · 27/08/2017 09:03

You have some lovely names on your list. I particularly like:

Elara, Mariela and Melissa, but also like Maren, Eliana and Catalina! Elara is my fav though.

Liadain · 27/08/2017 09:47

Yes manic, you're right - seems I didn't explain properly. I do like the names on the second list but for various reasons they just don't work for us Smile

And yes Jooni, will definitely use fadas - it was just a bit awkward trying to add them with the phone.

Carmen Mary is beautiful !

CakeRattleandRoll · 27/08/2017 10:13

Love Saoirse Mary.

bridgetreilly · 27/08/2017 22:06

Mariela Mary sounds a bit much to me.

Hazel and Melissa are both more English, so if you're keen on the Irish connection I'd avoid them.

mathanxiety · 27/08/2017 22:25

I think Mariella is a variant of Mary/Elizabeth and also sounds a bit of a mouthful.
Maren Mary is a bit too much of the same sound/letters too.

From your list, I like Roise Mary, Saoirse Mary, Liadan Mary and Hazel Mary.
I think you could easily get away with Naomi and Laurel in Ireland, so I would add them to the list of names I like (though maybe they wouldn't work with your surname).

Melissa is imo very dated.
Carmen is lovely but doesn't flow with Mary.
Elara is a bit fluffy imo. Prefer Lara.

ghanchi · 27/08/2017 22:30

What do you think about:

Cecilia Mary
Evelyn Mary
Jane Mary
Charlotte Mary
Susannah Mary
Leah Mary
Tabitha Mary
Nina Mary

Buntysoven · 27/08/2017 22:51

Oooh what a delicious list! My favourite is Hazel Mary. I love Hazel but it sounds awful with our surname
