What do you think of Gardenia?

Would people struggle to pronounce it do you think?

I think Iggy Pop released a single called Gardenia this year. It wasn't great.

But I digress.

No. Just no. I think it sounds like a plant food. There are loads of "nature" names out there already that won't sound clunky and weird.

Sorry x

Mrscropley · 23/08/2017 12:51

Dahlia
Primrose
Poppy
Daisy
Lily
But not Gardenia

Bumpsadaisie · 23/08/2017 12:53

You don't live anywhere near Cambridge do you?

Because if you do, definitely dont choose this.

Gardenias ("Gardies") is the local very famous kebab shop! gardis.co.uk

MrsCharlieD · 23/08/2017 13:03

I know how to pronouit and what it is but I don't like it as a name unfortunately and I am usually fond of nature names.

I imagine some sloany princess in head to toe Chanel be ing called it, which you may very well be in which case it's probably perfect Grin

splendide · 23/08/2017 13:37

Grin very far from that

I think I'll consign it to the "maybe for a cat" pile.

It's a bit close to a major brand of gardening equipment too. www.gardena.com/uk

Viviennemary · 23/08/2017 13:50

Never heard of it used as a name. I usually quite like flower names. But no. Don't use this one.

I thought of Gardi's in Cambridge too!

TheLegendOfBeans · 23/08/2017 14:46

"Critically acclaimed" @WizardofToss Grin

greendale17 · 23/08/2017 14:49

Not a name at all

I think it's a very pretty name.

ScarletForYa · 23/08/2017 20:15

I'm sorry but it's too close to Gardnerella

viques · 23/08/2017 20:18

Thank goodness you are not having twins, you might have gone for Gardenia and Magnolia.

so many pretty flower names, why go for something that sounds like an indifferent paint colour.

splendide · 23/08/2017 20:25

I quite like magnolia 😂

FizzyGreenWater · 23/08/2017 22:37

As long as you don't have a boy and go for Elephant's Breath OP then fine 😂

MrsEricBana · 23/08/2017 22:42

Sorry but no way. My kitchen, bedroom and office are painted BS10B15 (aka Gardenia!) and would be the same as calling a baby Magnolia (but less pretty).

MrsEricBana · 23/08/2017 22:43

Fizzygreenwater or Clunch (shudder)

Circumlocutor · 24/08/2017 00:03

Perfume

Elbi · 24/08/2017 18:15

*Bumpsadaisie you beat me to it! Anywhere other than Cambridge and you're fine OP...

Liadain · 25/08/2017 22:03

It'll make a great name for a cat, OP. And possibly a gerbil.

Just not a human. Grin

TheEternalForever · 25/08/2017 22:56

It's a nice enough plant. You might want to think of nickname potentials though - are there very many nice ones for Gardenia? It reminds me of like a luxury hand soap and lotion set you'd get in a fancy hotel.
