Middle name for Wilfred

Our lovely little boy was born on Friday. We didn't know the sex but were pretty settled on the boy name from very early on.

Trouble is, we haven't given much (if any!) thought to a middle name (I obsessed about girls names instead because I couldn't find one I really liked!).

We definitely want him to have a middle name and don't have any family names we'd like to use. Our surname is 2 syllable and begins with 'Cl'.

We're vaguely considering Augustus atm... It does sound really fabulous but a bit worried it's a bit much (also is WAC bad for initials?)

Any ideas?

aw congrats! How exciting!

I know a Wilfred Theodore which I think works well.

Wilfred Maddox
Wilfred Joel

Um.....so his initials will be WC?
A lot of places / people / systems ignore middle name when doing initials. (Ever read the minutes for a meeting where staff have been allocated jobs or marked as attending?)
Are you sure you want to do this to him?

I think middle names should have relevance so can see why you've gone for Augustus. I think that's quite nice. Are family names really out of the question? If you're into History, Wilfred Owen sounds good.

Wilfred Arnold sprang to mind

I really don't see WC being an issue

Another vote for Wilfred Owen

Have you decided yet OP?

Wilfred George

I love the name Wilfred! I like Wilfred Alexander or Wilfred James.

I feel Wilfred Augustus may be a little much for him to bear, but if you absolutely love it you should go for it.

Thanks again for all of your lovely messages and suggestions and sorry for the lack of response... Been busy recovering / adjusting / cuddling etc!

Haven't decided yet. We still love the idea of Augustus but I think it'd be wise to steer clear of the WAC thing... You know, just in case WAC (as in 'what a cunt'!) becomes as widely used as, say, WTF. And also, it is a bit grand and pretentious...

And I really don't think WC is a problem. It's an old fashioned phrase and acronym - the younger generations won't think anything of it. Anyway, he's definitely Wilfred and his surname definitely begins with a C so it'll have to be those initials!

We're currently considering Barnaby. I also like Edward but a bit worried about the double 'ed' sound (but Wilfred Owen's middle name was Edward too, so he'd be in good company).

I'll try and sort out a pic soon...
