Vincent, Christopher or Peter?

We've just found out we are having a boy Smile!

We have narrowed it down to one of these three names, (we have been through sooooo many names and these are the only three we can agree on, so it probably isn't worth asking for any more suggestions ATM);

Vincent
Christopher (Kit at home, until he's old enough to choose a nickname/ shortening)
Peter

Middle name will be Wilfred, Alfred or Albert. Surname is a common, two syllable name.

We already have a DD, named Emma.

All those names are really good. Well done.

llangennith · 20/08/2017 10:42

I'm old enough to remember these names first time round. Disliked them then, loathe them now!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 10:52

Super helpful thanks llangenneth Hmm. I've already said, these are the only names DH and I agree on and, believe me, we've been through a lot of names.

Thanks everyone else for helpful comments.

I think Peter goes best with Emma (if you're bothered about sibling names going together...!). It's a lovely name.

usersos · 20/08/2017 11:15

Greendale - bear in mind there are mums reading on here that's sons are called vinnie!

Go with your gut op.....the more you ask for opinions on names the more of a mindfuck it'll be! X

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 11:19

My gut says Vincent, but DH's says Christopher!

Maybe we go with Peter then? Confused

Tbf though, we will probably not decide for sure till we meet him, in case he just looks like a Peter / Vinnie / Kit. It's nice to see what others think too though.

Vincent is super cool!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 11:32

I think I like these best:

Vincent Alfred Surname
Christopher Alfred Surname
Peter Wilfred Surname

Christopher by a mile!

Love Kit too.

early30smum · 20/08/2017 11:44

They're all nice OP. I love Kit, so I'd probably say Christopher and call him Kit from day 1.

Kazzawazza69 · 20/08/2017 12:07

Vincent is lovely x

itssquidstella · 20/08/2017 12:19

I like them all, but Vincent is my favourite. Kit is a lovely shortening of Christopher!

chowmeinchick · 20/08/2017 12:23

I'd pick Vincent although I don't like it just because it can get shortened to Vinnie, which is okay.

Chris and Pete are horrible 🙈

ScarletSienna · 20/08/2017 15:08

Christopher Alfred is great. I'm not keen on Wilfred and still can't stand Vincent so Christopher Alfred gets my vote.

CakeRattleandRoll · 20/08/2017 16:10

Peter gets my vote.

Sophronia · 20/08/2017 19:06

They're all great, but Peter gets my vote too.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/08/2017 19:10

Christopher is awful, sorry ☹️
I like Vincent (Vinnie/y, or Peter.

Jjpeston · 20/08/2017 20:43

Vincent is really cool. Reminds me of that hot French actor Vincent Perez. Actually on that note it works in other languages too. On the Christopher / Kit thing, have you considered Christian as the full name instead of Christopher? Bit more 'now' if you're worried about Christopher sounding dated at all

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/08/2017 20:55

Christopher 'Kit' Wilfred

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 21:16

I'd thought about the fact that Vincent works in other languages. That's one of the things we liked about our dd's name. I'm not sure about Christian, but it's a possibility. Could still end up as Chris though of course!

Peter always sounds crisp and fresh to me. I'm in the greatly dislike camp on Vincent I'm afraid. Christopher is ok.

NameChange30 · 20/08/2017 23:29

I love Kit! Christopher a good solid name, it goes well with Emma and exists (albeit in a slightly form) in other languages.

I'm not a fan of Peter as I think of it as a name from our parents' generation (although I do know a couple my age). Still, it's a bit... dull and I don't like Pete as a nickname.

Not a particular fan of Vincent but don't hate it either.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/08/2017 09:11

or Kristian (Kit).

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 21/08/2017 09:49

Vincent.

grufallosfriend · 21/08/2017 11:10

Kit? Like sports kit? I can't see that as a nice short form or a natural one for Christopher.
Chris is much more natural imo

I like Vincent best
