It's sometime around now isn't it? I love poring through it. (Nerd alert!)

Wtf? Not high priority?!

Don't they know we're all waiting to scrutinise it?

Not. Good. Enough. Grin

Isabel had already been sliding - it was frequent use from about 2005-2010 and had been reducing since - with Sophie and Evie easily ourstripping it in numbers.

Like Isabella, Sophia is a classic name and I expect both will stay in use. Evie (rather like Ruby) is more closely associated with certain epochs only.

I was going tomsay that boys names don't seem to be associated anywhere near as closely, though there is still the ebb and flow of fashion. But then I thought of so many Nigels in their 50s, but next to no younger ones.

GreengageJam - that was my reaction too.

They do know that this information matters to some parents/expectant parents, as said relative* once told me, they get a lot of e-mails about it every year. They could save themselves time having to respond to those e-mails, if they got the data out earlier!

  • Relative has no dealings with the baby name data but works in same department as those who do.
