Frances or Stella yes. Francesca no for me.

TurquoiseOwl · 14/08/2017 01:01

Francesca is my favourite, it's beautiful, but I'd never use it because of the NNs.

Frances

Asalways · 14/08/2017 03:44

These were both on my 'list' I didn't use either Francesca or frances because of the nicknames. Frankie is awful imo. I didn't use Stella either but I still really like it.

Frances. I do love Stella too but from those choices it would be Frances.

Frances

I like Francesca, esp Frankie, but recently met someone who pronounced it Fran-sess-ca, whereas I'd only ever heard it as Fran-ches-ca before and much prefer the latter.

I prefer Stella, but the lager connection would probably annoy me.

EricaSeas · 14/08/2017 12:26

Stella. I really like Francesa and Frances, but not Frankie.

Pemba · 14/08/2017 13:08

Stella is a lovely classic name with a lovely meaning. You will probably get twats saying 'why name her after a lager?' but the name Stella was in existence long before the lager name was invented, and will be there long after Stella Artois is forgotten. Estella is lovely too.

Frances is a classic name too though, but for some reason I'm not so keen. It always sounds a bit unisex to me (maybe because of the male version, Francis) and just has a slightly plain feel, although it's absolutely fine. Doesn't have good nicknames either. I do like Francesca.

Hate Francis, love Francesca. Stella is fine ? A bit 80s?

fionadal · 19/08/2017 21:20

Stella is a great name, one of my all-time favourites!

MammieBear · 21/08/2017 14:45

Francesca is lovely more outgoing in my opinion, I'd associate Frances with a quiet, studious child and Stella in the same category of Francesca. Stellamaris is lovely it means star of the sea.

NipperNapNope · 21/08/2017 14:57

I like them both. The only Frances I know went by Francie as a child. She was indeed studious and quiet. I think it's a fabulous name but I really don't like Frankie on a girl so would have to vote Stellla.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 21/08/2017 15:40

In order of preference:

  1. Francesca, (lovely)
  2. Stella, (not in love with it, but it's ok)
  3. Frances, (not in love with it, but it's ok)
  4. Frankie, (not keen)
holidayqueriwifi · 23/08/2017 12:19

I love them both! What a great choice! I would probably go with Stella just slightly ahead only because a friend has a Frances.
