Baby will be half French, half English.
Is Genevieve horribly outdated in France now?
I like it but I am not French.

I'd be using it myself, but DM hates the English pronunciation and we live in England (she is French). I think I actually prefer the English pronunciation. I wouldn't worry about different pronunciation in the different languages, all my kids respond to both.

Gorgeous name!

Sophronia · 07/08/2017 23:37

I love it, both pronunciations.

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/08/2017 08:21

I love it with nn Ginny

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 08/08/2017 08:24

I love it. It's my daughter's middle name. It would have been her first name but we fell in love with a Celtic name too and they work better this way round.

Kazzawazza69 · 08/08/2017 08:34

Really like it but what are the 2 pronunciations?

Decaffstilltastesweird · 08/08/2017 08:38

I think I'm french it's Jeh-neh-vee-ev, with a soft j sound at the beginning, and in English it's Jen-eh-veev.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 08/08/2017 10:07

*in French, not im French!

GissASquizz · 08/08/2017 10:10

I love it.

Lemondrop99 · 08/08/2017 11:31

I think it's a beautiful name. I know one who goes by Evie

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 08/08/2017 12:05

Love it!

terrylene · 08/08/2017 12:15

Love it. Wanted it for pfb but dh said it was a good name for a car Sad
He was a boy so we called him something else instead.

Prefer the soft g, used in French if you are interested Wink

MrsXx4 · 08/08/2017 12:21

Its on my list but DH can't say it let alone spell it bless him! he gets all tongue tied and ends up saying 'Geneneve'. Our surname begins with a G so I would use the nn 'Gigi'.

frozentree · 08/08/2017 14:43

I live in France and the only Genevieve I know is 65... Think it would be considered old-fashioned but relatively classic.

Amee1992x · 08/08/2017 15:39

Love it, will be my daughters middle name. (Would be first but DH won't budge)

Mamabear4180 · 09/08/2017 23:24

Love it! It's my name. I'm English and go by Jenny. I get a lot of compliments on it. I didn't like it as a child because it was so different, I've only met 3 in my life and I'm 37. Noticed its slightly more popular today but still unusual.

MadameJosephine · 09/08/2017 23:27

I love it. We very nearly used it for DD but couldn't agree on the pronunciation so we went with Jennifer instead

endofthelinefinally · 10/08/2017 03:01

French side have vetoed it as too old fashioned.
