I really like vintage / granny names for little girls but what are the alternatives for boys?

My great granddad was called Isiah. I like that. I like Elijah (Eli) too.

Watch a couple of episodes of Last of the Summer Wine- a goldmine!

Wilfred.

I'm a mum of two sons born 100 years after Wilfred Owen. I can't imagine what Susan Owen, and so many others now, must have been feeling 100 years ago.

I like trawling the ONS historical baby names data

www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/livebirths/datasets/babynamesenglandandwalestop100babynameshistoricaldata

Top 100 names from 1904.

almostmumto3 · 31/07/2017 20:29

Thanks all,
I'm not sure I like the boys versions after all 🙈 I like Arthur but I don't like when it's pronounced with an F rather than th lol

My favourite is Louis but DH isn't keen so trying to come up with alternatives

Look on war memorials for names. Sad but helpful

TroysMammy · 31/07/2017 20:33

Horace, no-one has mentioned Horace.
