Much prefer Angus - good, strong, manly name. Really dislike nicknames as full names and Archie is really popular at the moment.

I like Archie but know so many both human and canine Hmm
Fergus is dreadful.
Angus is fab.

I absolutely adore Angus, and I love Gus as a nickname.

Except DH said no Angry

Archie is a bit meh.

SoftBlocks · 01/08/2017 06:49

Angus. Don't Ike Archie.

TheLegendOfBeans · 01/08/2017 06:52

Archie is overused to the point of borderline common.

Angus is better but you need to think about how it goes with your surname in case it comes across a bit "novelty Scot".

pigeondujour · 01/08/2017 06:54

If you're Scottish, Angus - love it. If you aren't, neither.

auntym · 01/08/2017 07:47

Thanks for the replies so far. I am Scottish, DP is English (so English surname). We live in Scotland. I like Hamish but we have one in the family already. Rather than seeking out an A name, these just happen to be the two we like Smile

Angus

Angus! Way too many Archies about - it's one of those names that will immediately place him as born in 2016-17.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/08/2017 09:03

Hi know 1 Archie, he's 7
I don't know any Angus's

I love Angus. Archie is nice enough but love Archibald

EmmyInTheSticks · 01/08/2017 09:23

I think Angus is great.

Archie is trendy and lacks a bit of grit imo.

Lemondrop99 · 01/08/2017 12:39

There's a lot of young Archies around here, along with Alfie, Alfred and Albie.

Don't know anyone called Angus

auntym · 01/08/2017 12:59

Still a while to go but Angus is now firmly top of our list. Thanks everyone Grin
