This was the name of a character of a book I liked when I was younger.

Is it just too peculiar?

I know a Lally, short for Lalita (not Lolita!). I do like it as a nickname, but I wouldn't give it as the full name.

Callie could also be short for Calista.

Fine as a nickname, but not a name that will 'grow up' well, IYSWIM.
