Help! Which do you prefer from these boys names:

Samuel
Joseph
Edward
Thomas
Arthur
Henry

I know they're all popular, so it's hard to choose between them. They all go equally well with our surname and we like all the nicknames. Any suggestions of reasons to pick one above the others??

Interesting, fairly mixed opinions!! Joseph and Thomas seem most popular overall... Arthur less so.

Maddening, love the musical reference! Good point about shortening Arthur, Pocket and Superbeagle. I do like Art tho, but maybe other people won't bother with it. I don't mind Hen but interesting to hear others don't like it!

Anyone dislike Arthur for a reason? I suppose it's the least popular of the lot on the stats. Should I be worried about Edward being a faddy name atm?

I love Arthur! Just find art a difficult name to use (we have a nephew called Arthur and he gets artie but not art). It doesn't matter what mn think if you like it!

Thanks Pocket. I don't know if I like it though, that's the problem!!

Favourite is Thomas by a country mile.
Really like all the others too though except for Arthur which I really dislike. Really really dislike it but can never pin point why.

Joseph (Joe) Arthur or Edward (Ned).
I wouldn't shorten Arthur though.

@mamaduckbone yes I think we are erring towards those three...

Arthur. By miles.
Love Arty too.

Sam/Samuel
Hal/Henry

But definitely not Hen! Hen is what people in Scotland call women instead of 'love' or 'dear'.

Love Arthur and Henry. Much more interesting and distinctive than the other names. I would not shorten either name but if I had to I would go with Hal and Artie.

What a great bunch of names, hard to choose.

Joseph or Edward.
