Leo, Elliot, Zachary...Edward?

DC2 is due next month. We don't know if they are a boy or girl. If they are a girl, DH and I have a name picked that we both love - which means of course we are likely to never get the chance to use it Grin

Soooo on the assumption that DC2 is a boy, we are really struggling to find names we both like. At the moment we keep tossing around Elliot, Zachary, Leo and (outsider) Edward but none feel quite "right".

Elliot = warming more towards it despite lack of obvious nicknames, Zachary = DH loves it but I'm not quite so sure (I think I have read Zachary Quack too many times and I just think of ducklings!), Leo = DH and I both like it and it was on our list for DC1 (and he would be born a Leo in terms of astrology) but I'm not sure it goes with our surname that well and we know a million little Leos in our area, Edward = I've always liked it, DH not so sure.

DC1 is Sebastian, and DC2's middle name would probably be Arthur (family name).

Any thoughts on these names or ideas on other names would be hugely appreciated!

Zachary
Elliot
Leo

Edward

In that order. I like Zachary a lot. Elliot is lovely (but be prepared to have in constantly misspelt Elliott). The Elliot I know is just Elliot, no nn ideas there. I think Leo is quite nice, although I think it suits a child more than a man, plus it's popular in your area if that bothers you. Edward is fine as a name, but I'm so sick of hearing Edward nn Teddy. I guarantee your baby group will be full of little Teddies!

I love Zachary, especially for nn Zack. Also like Isaac to shorten to same! Isaac Arthur sounds lovely.

I like all of them - not a lot of help sorry! I have an Edward but he's known as Eddie or Ed and definitely not Teddy as it irritates me.

Biased here as I have a Zachary but I adore it. Leo was also on our list and my second favourite was Sebastian but DH doesn't like it for some reason so I couldn't have it. We obviously have similar taste!

Elliott and Edward are both perfectly nice but I wouldn't pick them over Zachary or Leo.

Thank you all - very helpful to get different views! Edward would definitely be Ed or Eddie, not a huge fan of Teddy. DH will be delighted that Zachary has such positive reviews Smile it is a lovely name.

Leo! Although I may be a bit biased since that is my DS's name. I just love that name and it's not common from where I'm from and no one else is called it. His full name is actually Leonardo. Leonardo James, just shortened it to Leo. My second favourite on your list would be Elliot, then Zachary, then Sebastian and then Edward xx

I think Leo goes best with Sebastian and I really like it but then it doesn't seem to be popular here

I like Edward but know a few

Zachary is nice. I prefer Zechariah

Elliott was on my list if dd had been a boy but wouldn't be now as we know so so many

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/07/2017 18:25

Zachariah

Pickerel · 03/07/2017 18:27

Edward is my favourite, then Elliott, then Zachary (prefer just Zach). Not that keen on Leo.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/07/2017 18:43

How about Leon ?
I like Zachary best, not a fan of Edward.

ZigAZigAhh · 03/07/2017 19:53

Thanks all. I quite like Leon but DH is not so keen. He has just thrown Alastair into the mix - not one I had thought of but I think I like it too, will need to think about it though!
