My husband is Swedish and so is our surname. I feel like this name ticks a lot of boxes... But is it too out there?

Common here. I know 3 ( my ages ) and 2 babies... lovely name.

I love it. There is a lovely dog called Magnus in our village, we are also great friends with a Norwegian guy who really is 'great'!

MikeUniformMike · 01/07/2017 15:11

Love it. You'll find it's a lot more popular than you think.

n0ne · 01/07/2017 15:25

Love it. It's getting quite popular in the UK, actually.

Love it. Just not brave enough to use it, as we don't have Scottish or Scandinavian connections. Lovely strong name with lots of nn! Go for it

Great! I think we're going to go for it (though have to see what he looks like of course Hmm)

This name was asked about yesterday so I'll say it again - my 18m old son is a Magnus (dad is Scottish). He is very big and strong and has a big mop of blond hair and the bluest eyes. Looks like a Viking and his name suits him perfectly Grin get lots of complements on it

doodlejump1980 · 01/07/2017 20:43

Love it. We have a Magnus :)

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 01/07/2017 21:45

I love Magnus - it's the name of Miss Honey's Dad in Matilda and I've loved it ever since!

Suzietwo · 01/07/2017 21:48

My 3 y/o is Magnus. Of my 4 Kate da, he has the best name.

He's massive blonde and blue eyed. It suits him

Suzietwo · 01/07/2017 21:48

4 kids!

mistermagpie · 01/07/2017 21:50

My DS is called Magnus, there is also another one in his nursery class and I know another Magnus in his 20s. We're in Scotland and lots of people think it's a Scottish name even though it isn't.

Nobody has ever called my DS anything else or made any comment about Magnums. If people mishear his name they tend to think it's Marcus.

We get loads of compliments on his name but I expect people who hate it aren't going to tell me that!

Love it.
