Need help on my shortlist above. Love Elena but pronounced Elayna and everyone says ellena, so could go with Eleanor instead for ease. Juliette is dh fave I like it but not if it got shortened to Julie. Caitlin is other one I have always liked but is dh least fave. Any help please baby due soon!

I have an Elena, pronounced el-ay-na.
I've found we get 'Eleanor' from people who are reading it without hearing it, e.g. at the docs, and sometimes when I say it to people, they don't catch it or they don't remember it. But plenty of people do get it. I took her for a settling in session at nursery, and the staff all had it right. It doesn’t bother me, and if it starts to drive DD potty when she's older, she can shorten to Ella or Lena.

Juliet would be my other choice.

Love Juliette (Etta).

VintagePerfumista · 30/06/2017 09:09

I like Elena, (dd's middle name until dp changed his mind) but the pronunciation is a minefield and you'd be forever correcting whichever one it wasn't!

Oldgranny · 30/06/2017 10:04

Juliette x

Sophronia · 30/06/2017 11:38

Juliette (or Juliet?) or Eleanor

Rainbowqueeen · 30/06/2017 11:40

I don't know any Juliets who have it shortened to Julie

It's a gorgeous name

Backhometothenorth · 30/06/2017 14:22

Juliette

grasspigeons · 30/06/2017 14:31

I like Juliette best from those

MissSmiley · 30/06/2017 14:34

Juliette
Jules maybe or Etta but wouldn't get shortened to Julie

SoleBizzz · 30/06/2017 14:42

Juliette at school was shortened to Julie or Jules.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2017 14:43

Juliette

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 30/06/2017 14:45

Juliette (Etta) or Eleanor, I love both of them!

aurorie11 · 30/06/2017 14:47

I have a Juliette, but nn is ettie

C0untDucku1a · 30/06/2017 14:48

Elena is pronounced el ay na. I always thought Eleanor was ellen or as in Roosevelt. never heard Juliette shortened.

MrsMyreton · 30/06/2017 14:53

I love both Juliette and Eleanor.

My friend Juliette is called 'Juls' as a nickname, but only by close friends.

VintagePerfumista · 30/06/2017 14:53

Elena is pronounced Ellen-a in Italy.

KoalaDownUnder · 30/06/2017 15:24

I love Elena.

Babypassport · 30/06/2017 18:00

I have an Elena (pn el-EN-a) and pronunciation has been difficult - like a PP said, lots of people call her Eleanor! Still love the name though.

Saying that, all your choices are gorgeous!

bridgetreilly · 30/06/2017 19:46

Eleanor.
Juliet. (this spelling much better than Juliette imo)
Caitlin.
Elena.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 30/06/2017 21:32

Juliette! It's pretty high in my list!

I love Elena, such a beautiful name.

I really dislike Juliette, it seems a bit posh to me Blush also all the Juliettes I have known have been utter bitches.

Caitlin is very dated, I know loads who were born 10-15 years ago.

Eleanor is fine, not to my taste though.

SuperBeagle · 04/07/2017 08:08

The Elena I know probably pronounces it eh-LEE-nah. She's Russian. I think pronunciation will be an issue. I can't see how it's pronounced like Eleanor, as I also pronounce Eleanor like Eleanor Roosevelt.

Not a fan of Eleanor, having said all that.

Caitlin is very outdated. I don't know any under the age of 15, but know loads in the 15-30 bracket.

Love Juliet, but only this spelling. Smile

KarineAimee · 04/07/2017 20:34

Juliette is gorgeous

wizzler · 04/07/2017 22:42

Juliette from your list, but as per pp would prefer Juliet.
Helena?
