Do you like the name Gabriella?

I'm not a lover of Gabbie, but I don't mind it. I'd probably try and use Gabriella, but in reality, she'd probably get 'Gabs' Blush

We are really struggling with a name!

My niece is Gabriella and her nickname is G or Gigi - never has been Gaby, Gabs or similar.

I love the name, it's utterly beautiful!

Marley45 · 24/06/2017 02:06

Yes it's beautiful

furryelephant · 24/06/2017 03:44

It's a lovely name! Just hate Gaby as a potential nickname

I think it's nicer if you are Italian and have an Italian surname to go with it.

mathanxiety · 24/06/2017 07:49

Love it, and like a pp the only one I know goes by Gigi.

mathanxiety · 24/06/2017 07:50

Rafaella is sort of in the same ballpark, if you're looking for inspiration.

Yolannnda · 24/06/2017 09:25

I had a friend named Gabriella at school, her parents insisted on calling her the full name but everyone else called her Gabby, which I really disliked. If I named a DD Gabriella I would use the nickname Ella instead.

Muumi3 · 24/06/2017 11:00

I know a Gabriella who goes by Gabby and Gabs. She talks so much that people call her Gabby Gabby

Emmanuelle is a similar feel of name?

VintagePerfumista · 24/06/2017 11:01

I like it, and I think it's made the crossover culturally to not need an Italian surname/heritage.

Here, they'd get Gabri as a nickname rather than Gabby or Gabs.

I like Raffaella very much too. (they would get Raffa)

BipBippadotta · 25/06/2017 13:57

I like Gabriela and Gaby!

Aedie4 · 25/06/2017 14:28

I love Gabriella! Is there a shorter version you would be happy with? Then you could say 'we don't call her Gabby we call her GiGi' for example...which by the way,I love too!

apple26 · 25/06/2017 14:30

I have a Gabrielle and although I didn't want it shortened, she gets Gaby from her friends but it has grown on me and now I like Gaby

Unadon · 25/06/2017 15:13

Gabriella is lovely, Gabby/Gabs is awful.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/06/2017 15:15

I like it. I quite like Gabby and Gabs. But the Gabriella we know well is called Ella

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 25/06/2017 15:18

I think it's a lovely name.

queenofthedump · 25/06/2017 16:55

Nope, not keen.

DramaAlpaca · 25/06/2017 19:11

I find it a bit fussy, to be honest.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 25/06/2017 19:14

I do like it, but was coming on to say I find it a little on the fussy side. I prefer Gabrielle.

bridgetreilly · 25/06/2017 20:28

I don't mind it but I don't love it. I would use Ella as a shortened form. Or even Bree?

UsernameInvalid66 · 27/06/2017 18:01

I think it's beautiful.

I also think the short form should be spelt Gaby, because (1) the long form doesn't have 2 Bs in it and (2) when I see Gabby written down I think "scabby". But I don't think it when I just hear it spoken. Gaby with one B makes me think of some quite cool, cosmopolitan European girl/woman because I have known a few like that!

Ella would also make quite a nice short form but you'd have to be prepared for people assuming her real name was Ella!

EmmyInTheSticks · 27/06/2017 18:14

I like it a lot, I think Gabby is fine too. I think Gabrielle is better as to be picky Gabriella is a bit frilly with the 'a' at the end.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 27/06/2017 18:17

I like it. Also really like Ella so would shorten it that way.

SirNiallDementia · 27/06/2017 18:18

It is a pretty name but the Gabrielle and Gabriellas I know get called Gabby or Gabs which I don't like.
