Brother or Sister for Amber?

ElsieDee · 18/06/2017 10:22

Amber has always been my favourite name so was a no brainer for dd (now 4) However, now I can't stop thinking I've limited my choices for upcoming dc2.
I currently love old-traditional names coming into fashion Edie, Elsie, Henry, etc just don't think that they fit, and really don't want anything in the top 10... I can't really decide on which 'type' of name Amber falls into... any ideas???

The amber I knew has a sister called jade.
Both gemstone names.

OnnaNoHito · 18/06/2017 10:36

Going on the stone theme, have you considered 'Jasper' for a boy?

Marv1nGay3 · 18/06/2017 10:46

I know a Maisie who has a sister Amber. Those names work well together. Or carrying on the gemstone theme- Amber and Pearl?

Just pick a name you love! Don't worry about the 'type' of name fitting. Your kids are going to be two grown adults and don't need matching names!

Epipgab · 18/06/2017 11:50

Beryl
Jade

Emerald

Seriously, just pick a name you like. Siblings do not have to have matching names. If you want to call the baby Persephone or Peregrine or Henry or Helen or whatever, go ahead.

I know an Amber whose sister is Hazel. I always thought they went quite well together and Hazel is such a lovely name.

Like pp suggestion of Jasper for a boy.

harderandharder2breathe · 18/06/2017 20:08

I know an Amber who has two brothers. One has a name that "goes" with hers, the other has a name much more unusual than either of his siblings and which has a very different vibe. Names don't have to "match" it's more important to choose names you love.

The years of their lives where they'll be "Amber and Sibling" are short compared to their whole lives.

AguacateMaduro · 18/06/2017 20:09

Amber and Jasper is a good suggestion.
For a girl I would avoid too matchy matchy. Amber and Jemma?

sauceyorange · 18/06/2017 20:17
