Looking for a boy's name which isn't too popular but isn't too weird or pretentious...

Hopefully will 'go' with his older sister's name Olive

Quite like Moses, nn Mo...any thoughts or other ideas...?

Amos is much nicer.

I love Moses, great name.

I had a friend, no longer with us, called Moses. He was a true gent and I loved him dearly. He loved his wife (I was close to her too) with a passion until the day he died.

it's a shame so many nice names are ruined by Jesus.

How did Jesus ruin the name exactly?

I know a Moses who pulls off the name perfectly but he has a very strong personality. I don't know if the name would work well on everyone.

I think what's meant is that these are names that have become associated with bible thumpers.

To be fair, if it weren't for Christianity we'd hardly be familiar with these names in the first place.

Awful.

Jooni · 18/06/2017 03:39

I like Moses, and Olive and Moses make for a cool set!

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 18/06/2017 03:52

I personally don't like it but if you do, then go for it.

When I was pregnant with DS2 who is now 18, I really liked the name Noah. Everyone told me it was awful, far too Biblical, he would get laughed at, only extreme Christians would call a child Noah etc etc so I got take out of it. About 5 years later it became really popular and I do feel annoyed that I listened to all those other people.

KoalaDownUnder · 18/06/2017 04:41

Too bible-bashy.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 18/06/2017 05:18

I don't know why, because it's nothing like Moses, but as soon as I read your first post the only name I could think of was Saul.

What on earth is that supposed to mean? Hmm

CrownOfPrawns · 18/06/2017 16:47

Old Testament names aren't Christian!

People who don't like Moses are in deNile

chinlop · 18/06/2017 18:47

I like it.

But I never did care about "oh no, biblical connotations!". And I'm not Christian or Jewish in the slightest.

BellsaRinging · 18/06/2017 18:50

Love it! Spent quite a lot of time in Israel and Moses (well Moshe) is really common there.

Floggingmolly · 18/06/2017 18:53

Arf at that miserable bastard Jesus, ruining all the good names...

Rinkydinkypink · 18/06/2017 19:00

= basket.

Love Olive and Love Moses. Not a fan of Mo though.

Moses is a lovely handsome name. Id consider it myself but we have a surname starting Mo
