I was set on Beatrice nn.Bea/Bebe but am now thinking Beatrix looks and sounds nicer...I don't want the nn. Trixie though...

Mn. Emilia as I love it but can't use it as a 1st name...or maybe Alice - don't want to use as it as a 1st name as already have a daughter with the same initial...

Beatrice Alice (don't think this works as the last 3 letters are the same)...
Beatrice Emilia
Beatrix Alice
Beatrix Emilia

Thoughts?

No not if it is made up but I just haven't heard it used before so don't know how to pronounce it?

foodiefil · 17/06/2017 10:52

Bee-ah-triss

Mrsknackered · 17/06/2017 11:03

I like both, I love Bea.

But...bit of a silly question, how do you pronounce them?

Be-ah-trix/Be-ah-triss

Or bee-truss/bee-trix

The little Beatrice that I know, her DM pronounces it 'Beer-triss' is this correct?! I never 100% know.
Sorry for hijacking!

Beatrix sounds harsher to me, I do like it, but Beatrice better.

Also beware of Trixie - I know of two Beatrix, and they are Trix/Trixie. One child one adult. No keen on that - much prefer Bea.

Emilia miles better than Alice.

ScarletSienna · 19/06/2017 09:07

I love Beatrix but my DH says it sounds like Beer Tricks. I think all combinations sound nice.

Beatrice Emilia is beautiful.

I like Beatrix but it has a different vibe to Beatrice and i prefer the vibe of Beatrice plus it avoids Trixie

Alice is nice but more expected that Emilia which is beautiful

The only Beatrice I've ever known was an elderly lady known as Triss. Personally I prefer Trixie to Triss.

But don't assume the Beatrice spelling will avoid the nn Trixie. Names and nicknames are more fluid than that.

Thanks for all the comments! I'm definitely favouring Beatrice Emilia...I think it also goes better with my other children's names - all classic and fairly conservative. Beatrix is a lot spunkier than the others so doesn't go as well...

I know that there's a chance that she might be referred to as Trixie down the line but we'll refer to her as Bea or Bebe from Day 1 which will hopefully encourage people to call her that rather than Trixie. I don't hate the name Trixie just much prefer Bea/Bebe...
