Reuben or Zayn

SS is called Josh (Joshua)
Baby boys name I like is Reuben. He would be Reuben Joshua
My partner likes Zayn. Zayn Joshua

I don't dislike the name Zayn but it to me doesn't sound right with Joshua and we always said we would use Joshua as middle name! Confused

I prefer Reuben, and it goes better with Joshua.

What? Your stepson is called Joshua already and you are planning to use that as your new son's middle name? Am I understanding this right?

SuperBeagle · 15/06/2017 09:42

Reuben.

Zayn is way too One Direction/Zayn Malik at the moment.

ASDismynormality · 15/06/2017 09:43

Reuben is much nicer.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 15/06/2017 09:43

And to actually answer your question, Reuben is MILES better than Zayn which is a horrid name imo

Shad0w87 · 15/06/2017 09:52

What is the confusion of using step sons name for middle name? My SS has his dad's name as his middle name. I don't understand why this is in anyway strange

Well, shock horror, people have different opinions sometimes and to me, that is very odd, that's why I clarified.

Shockers · 15/06/2017 10:21

Reuben.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/06/2017 11:41

I like both names, but I prefer Zayn Joshua.

UsaNayme · 15/06/2017 11:50

It might seem like you're trying to replace him in your new family? Maybe ask you ss what he thinks

Jooni · 15/06/2017 12:48

Definitely Reuben

Shad0w87 · 15/06/2017 12:56

Yes well to me it is in no way odd.

Yes we have spoken to him about it and he loves the idea that his name will be his new baby brothers middle name. If anything we are trying to show him he is a huge part of the family and he always will be. I treat him as thou he was my own and he has had a lot of involvement in all to do with the new baby and name ideas too.

I asked for opinions on the names, not on my family's wishes to use my SS name

You so rarely use middle names that I wouldn't choose a first name on that basis. Choose Zayn or Reuben depending on which one you and your partner likes best. I like them both.

squoosh · 15/06/2017 15:14

I much prefer the name Zayn. Reubens are everywhere these days.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/06/2017 17:53

I think it's a lovely gesture, and your DSS, will feel so honoured, that his little brother has taken his name.
