I really want Mateo if we have a boy but my husband says no.

There's a really strange story behind it for me.

While we were trying we went on a city break to Barcelona. I am not religious at all, but in the Sagrada Familia I was just sat there chilling as my husband went around looking at stuff, and I had this imaginary chat with Jesus. In my mind he told me I was having a boy and I should name him after Mateo (his name is on the roof). So we got out of the church and I told my husband this story and he said he hated the name and made a joke about my wild imagination.

When we got home I did a test and turned out I was 5 weeks pregnant. No kidding, my due date is Christmas day. A combination of my wild imagination and coincidence but it made the name extra special for me.

Mateo is still off the table for now. But someone should name their son Mateo, please!

Matéo is popular in France as well.

Neoflex- you could call yours Matthew!

Unless you have Spanish/Hispanic roots I wouldn't. It sounds try-too-hard if you don't.

He has also vetoed Matthew. My husband is Bulgarian and they have the name Mattei (same pronunication but no O at the end).

Apparently there was a bully called Mattei at his school and anything related to the name he hates. Which I understand. I would never call my child anything with Vik in it for the same reason.
