I've seen it a lot here and online it says it is quite high up the list but not sure in that's in England or America. Also do you like it : approve? :) Wouldn't like it to be everywhere Shock

Only know one Hazel who is 85 years old but appears to be more like 65.

I'm not sure why the name Hazel is so popular as it's not one of those beautiful older names? Each to their own.

Onceafortnight · 12/06/2017 22:33

Don't like it I'm afraid. Very middle aged and no idea why it's popular.

buttercup54321 · 12/06/2017 22:33

Really dislike it.

BigGlasses · 12/06/2017 22:36

I know 5 people called Hazel.

3 in their 40s
1 in her 50s
1 (DD) who is 9
I personally think it's lovely but realise it's a bit of a marmite name.

Sophronia · 12/06/2017 22:51

I think it will increase a lot in popularity. I'm not keen but that's just because I know a unpleasant Hazel.

nigelsbigface · 12/06/2017 23:18

Love it!

chinlop · 12/06/2017 23:40

It was 219th in the UK list last year. That's its highest position in 20 years. So no, it's not very popular at all, I wouldn't worry about that.

Thanks for all your opinions!

maybe im overthinking this but does it make you think of the a brown colour and therefore pretty dull, or would you think its not a bad thing or ????

I love it, but then i'm biased as I have a DD Hazel. I don't know of any others, and purposefully chose a name not too popular. I associate it more with the tree than the colour.

user1497292938 · 13/06/2017 13:46

mad that's good to hear! i personally just like the sound of the name so muchGrin

Julia Roberts has a Hazel. I know two baby Hazels, I do think it's having a bit of a moment. Only time will tell if it becomes the next Isla or if it fades back into obscurity.

theresamustgo · 13/06/2017 14:05

I don't know any and very much doubt it is super popular. It is a lovely name, especially with brown eyes or hair, or hazel eyes I guess!

LilCamper · 13/06/2017 14:08

My almost 11 year old is Hazel.

user1497292938 · 13/06/2017 17:00

sorry to post again but was just thinking that as she most likely won't have brown / hazel eyes (we are blue / green), would this seem weird to still name her Hazel?Shock

Not in the slightest.

user1497292938 · 13/06/2017 20:26

thats good to hear! Smile

I have hazel eyes - more green than brown! - and I didn't think of the name.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/06/2017 21:14

The Hazel I know is a delightful blue-eyed freckle faced 6 year old. One of the nicest children at the school. I knew one in her 60s, also lovely!

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 13/06/2017 21:41

Julia Roberts and Emily Blunt both have DDs called Hazel.

I wouldn't choose it for a baby but that's because I associate it so strongly with the lovely old lady cleaner at my university.

weaselscanfly · 13/06/2017 23:56

Love it. It's my mum's name & my middle name. If I'd had a girl I would have called her Hazel. I do know of 1 other over 50 & 3 under 12s & it's definitely getting more popular. Rightly so though.
