I would definitely go with something very solid with Mary. Names like Jane, Anna/Anne, Catherine, Elizabeth etc.

amarchi · 06/06/2017 11:42

I like lots of these but I would definitely not go for Mary Rose - it is the name of Henry VIII ship which sank of the Isle of Wight and has since been raised and is now a museum in Portsmouth. For me it is just the first think I think of when I hear Mary Rose. Also you may well end up with people going 'oh like the ship' half the time.

MaryTheCanary · 06/06/2017 12:42

Three-syllable names might be nice?

Adelaide
Genevieve
Sylvia
Susannah
Rosalind

MaryTheCanary · 06/06/2017 12:43

I don't recommend Anne because she will end up being put into every list and database as Mary-Anne and it will drive her insane!

My grandmother was Caroline Mary, which I really like.

wrinkleseverywhere · 06/06/2017 20:35

I agree that it would be better not to go for something that could appear to be double barrelled. Therefore, I'd exclude Mary Kate, Mary Anne and some of the others were the middle name is just one syllable. I also agree with the previous poster about Mary Rose.
I love Mary. It is a classic, pretty, under used name. Whether it is a first or a middle name probably depends on which name you like most!

Muskey · 06/06/2017 20:37

Mary Christina
Mary Ellen

I would go with something longer and not too common.

Mary Henrietta
Mary Louisa
Mary Georgina
Mary Odette

blahthisistoohard · 07/06/2017 10:08

Mary is better as a middle name if it needs to be used at all, sorry but I think landing a child with that name is a bit cruel
