I'm not even pregnant yet, but I suddenly love this name!

Are there any other Blossom' out there? Do people like it?

God no.
I secretly like Buttercup

disneykid · 06/06/2017 00:28

It's my cousins last name

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 06/06/2017 00:30

Makes me think of this

What about Bubbles?

Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles are the Power Puff Girls

sycamore54321 · 06/06/2017 01:37

Yes with the TV show.

It also seems one of those horrid euphemistic words used about puberty and sexual awakening which would be horrid for an awkward teenage girl to deal with. Please don't.

Eminybob · 06/06/2017 02:17

Blossom was my favourite television programme when I was a kid (Joey Lawrence hummana hummana) so for me that's my first association. Not sure I'm keen on it as a name though.

What about Six?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/06/2017 08:46

At crazy golf once there was the naughtiest little girl called Blossom! It was hilarious, the parents were constantly like 'Blossom sweetie, don't do that! Precious Blossom, come here please! Blossom, no darling!' Grin It's far too frilly and wet as a first name for my taste anyway.

I do know of someone who has used it for her daughter's middle name, which is sweet.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/06/2017 08:47

Ooh, also looking at it just now it made me think of 'bosom'.

CottonSock · 06/06/2017 08:49

I like it.

GruffaloSoldier · 06/06/2017 08:58

It's my nieces name and although I was somewhat surprised by it when it was first announced, it has grown on me since and it really suits her. Smile

WindwardCircle · 06/06/2017 09:10

Would you like to be called Blossom as an adult? How would you feel in a professional situation meeting new colleagues or clients for the first time and introducing yourself as Blossom Smith (or whatever).

I know people have differing opinions on cute girls names, but I'd feel stupid as hell at 45 meeting new people and introducing myself as Blossom/Buttercup/Posey.

Mumchance · 06/06/2017 09:23

Blossom, Buttercup and Posy are mumsy cows' names for me. Now, I like cows I am typing this looking out onto a field of them but I don't think it's a good set of associations on actual girls and women.

SuperBeagle · 06/06/2017 09:56

Blossom and Buttercup were also names of two of the Powerpuff Girls. Grin

PenelopeFlintstone · 06/06/2017 10:02

I know of two adult Nigerians called Blossom.

FreeNiki · 06/06/2017 14:22

It's pretty but not sure it works on an adult. Maybe a middle name.

MineKraftCheese · 06/06/2017 14:32

My first thought is that Blossom was the name of Pandora's horse in Adrian Mole Grin

Second thought the TV show (which my mum wouldn't let me watch). Blossom's friend was called Six. I love that name! As well as Seven which was the name George wanted to use in Seinfeld I think.

Blossom. Hmmm. I can imagine awful jokes about "blossoming". Not sure I like it.

MineKraftCheese · 06/06/2017 14:33

@Eminybob great minds Smile

Topseyt · 06/06/2017 14:45

Awful. Sorry.

I am not that heavily into flowers used as names anyway.

bridgetreilly · 06/06/2017 19:37

Better as a nickname. Give the kid a real name to use as well though.

likeababyelephant · 06/06/2017 20:00

Oh right, Blossom is a Powerpuff Girl not a totally spy. Always got them mixed up.

UsaNayme · 06/06/2017 20:59

likeababyelephant the Totally Spies were Alex, Sam, and Clover
