It's early days, but naming DS was hard and I'm trying to get in there early as me and DH have different tastes!

This will be DC3, we have a Darcey and George already.

My first preference would be 'i' as the second letter, to follow the pattern.

For a girl I quite like
Ciara
Nina
Livia

For boys I can't think of anything I like. Maybe
Kit/t (would prob use Christopher on BC)
Nicholas

Neither of those would probably pass DH though Grin

Any ideas?

I think Clara doesn't really match the other names but Nina does.

Jude for a boy

wobblywonderwoman · 04/06/2017 13:51

Ciara doesn't but Clara would

StetsonsAreCool · 04/06/2017 14:05

Clara is sweet but I know 3, so that's out! Not sure we're a Jude sort of family Smile

Unless you plan on having 5 DCs, I would do the 'i' thing. It's hard enough to find a name you agree on without imposing other restrictions.

MammieBear · 04/06/2017 15:04

Livia is good or Nina, I agree you shouldn't put more restrictions in place unnecessarily. X

Rockaby · 04/06/2017 15:06

Agree with Jerry. Don't make things harder for yourself! It took me ages to figure out the link as well. I doubt anyone would notice unless you tell them. It's a little bit tenuous maybe?

I don't really like any of the girl names you've listed, but Nina is the one I like best. Love both boy choices.

StetsonsAreCool · 04/06/2017 15:23

I can't think of any other girls names I like anyway at the moment!

Quite like Felix, Rory, Elliot (wouldn't have with a George though), and Leo. All have been used by reasonably close friends recently though. What else is along those lines?

George is everywhere so I didn't mind choosing that, as it's not like there's only one other in our immediate circle. But the others would stand out as somebody else's child first.

The boy names you've just listed are lovely but not unusual. I know at least one of each and I don't know that many children! So I don't think it would be strange to use one of them despite knowing one Smile.

Other nice boys' names I've heard recently:

Rowan
Roman
Tristan
Benjamin
Jesse
Alexander
Arlo
Milo
Caspar
Sebastian

butterfly990 · 04/06/2017 15:51

Timmothy
Tyger
Carla

StetsonsAreCool · 04/06/2017 17:28

I like Milo and Arlo, and you've reminded me I liked Jasper last time so I'll try and get that past DH again this time!

I love Sebastian, and Seth, but our surname begins and ends with an S sound so the alliteration is a bit overkill unfortunately.

Jasper is lovely Smile

Going with your theme, how about:

Michael
William
Victor
Richard
Simon
Timothy
Liam

Lianne
Victoria
Fiona
Gillian
Hilary
Michaela

StetsonsAreCool · 04/06/2017 20:10

Thanks, some nice suggestions. DH thinks that Jasper is a wasp Hmm but I'll work on him Grin Owain/Owen I like too!

FIL is Michael and ILs dog is William - I wouldn't have a problem with this but DH won't be moved. Their cousin is Henry (well Harry, but it's the same thing)

I like Louisa. There's lots of other girls names I like too - Cora, Anya, Ivy. I've already ruled out Josie, Marnie and Sadie for either being to similar to DD or not sounding right with our surname.

I love the name Nina!!

My friend had a boy a few months ago and called him Nicholas and it's just fab!

blahthisistoohard · 04/06/2017 22:33

I was a Nina and changed my name by deed poll...awful name growing up- think 'neenahneenahneenahneenah' and so I went by my middle name. Just to warn you!

StetsonsAreCool · 04/06/2017 22:54

No worries blah - some names are marmite. This is I think the first time I've said DD's name on here and someone hasn't instantly said it's common and they hate it Wink

She currently hates her name because it's never on anything on the tat stands - I'll tell her she can change it when she's old enough if she feels strongly enough about it Grin

SumAndSubstance · 04/06/2017 23:34

Unhelpful comment: your ILs have a dog called William?! Love it!

blahthisistoohard · 05/06/2017 00:17

Haha yes it's certainly hard to please everyone on this forum! I don't mind the name Nina per say, I just didn't have a good experience with it personally. I got bullied at a young age and so always went by my middle name!

Argh, overthinking! Grin
