DP has his heart set, and at first I liked it too but I'm having a wobble on it now.

I'm honestly the worst with names which is why I originally said DP could pick...but, can you give me any alternatives for Talia? Middle names will be Elizabeth / Beth and Linda / Lynn to honor past generations

I think it's very pretty but feels incomplete as sounds like nn for Natalia. How would you/DP feel about Natalia on bc and then shorten for everyday?

OnNaturesCourse · 29/05/2017 10:50

I'm not a fan of Nat sounding names, we have a lot of them in the family already.

I have discussed the possibility with me but he prefers that we name the child what we intend to call them. I pointed out that I'd end up using Tallie as a nn but that was ignored lol

Talia is fine, just don't use it as a middle name with Jenny as the first name.

Haha the thought never even crossed my mind!! Oh my!

I'm more familiar with Tahlia, than Talia

SnickersWasAHorse · 29/05/2017 10:57

How do you pronounce that?

BarchesterFlowers · 29/05/2017 10:57

I thought of using this but Thalia spelling. I still love it.

Completeguess · 29/05/2017 10:58

I love it and only know one aged 13.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/05/2017 11:00

Talia Elizabeth is very nice.

neonrainbow · 29/05/2017 11:01

I prefer the Thalia spelling personally but i think its very pretty.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/05/2017 11:09

All the spellings sound the same, I'm just H spelling xx

Sophronia · 29/05/2017 12:22

I prefer the Thalia spelling too

OnNaturesCourse · 29/05/2017 16:17

It's all pronounced the same way though, right?

I really like it.

I went to school with a Thalia. She was of Greek/Cypriot heritage and it was pronounced with a TH at the beginning.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/05/2017 16:24

Thalia is the name of one of my favourite flowers - a graceful, pure white narcissus, looks fragile but is actually pretty tough.

So that's a yes from me.Smile

BarchesterFlowers · 29/05/2017 16:27

Not necessarily, Thalia or Tarlia depending on the spelling.

Th is traditionally Greek, Ta is the Hebrew spelling.

sweetkitty · 29/05/2017 16:29

I have a Talia (Tah-LEE-ah) beautiful name and so suits her.

She does get Italia and Tal-ya sometimes and gets it spelt Thalia which is the Greek version I believe.

OuchBollocks · 29/05/2017 16:32

There was a Talia (tahll-ya) in the epic sci-fi tv series Babylon 5, but I suppose that wouldn't be the first thing many people will think of :)

OlennasWimple · 29/05/2017 16:34

Thalia Grace is a pretty badass Rick Riordan character

Radishal · 29/05/2017 16:38

Currently a Talia on The Next Step. Whatever floats your boat. She's a beautiful, gifted dancer and a nice person on the show.

TobleroneBoo · 29/05/2017 16:44

I am a Talia, pronounced Tah- Lee-ah

I am constantly called Tarlia

BarchesterFlowers · 29/05/2017 16:49

Interesting isn't it. The Talia I know is Taarlia. I liked the other spelling because I presumed it would get the Tah Le Aa pronunciation.

WyfOfBathe · 29/05/2017 16:53

I love the name Talia.

Alternatives could be Tania (or Tanya/Tanja), Tabitha, Lydia, Olivia, Nadia

user1492722135 · 29/05/2017 17:03

I teach a little girl called Talia! She is very fashionable, kind and sweet. Makes me love the name.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/05/2017 17:44

I say it Tah-Lee-Ah like ta-leah in sound.

I absolutely loved it to start with but I'm now not sure as they would get Tally as nn, or Leah xx
