What's your take on Mary?

If I were to use this name should I have a girl it would honor a very special lady in my life.
However I don't know is it too old fashioned? I am not usually a fan of old lady style names, but like this for other reasons.
I don't think it's very popular which I'd prefer too.
Anyone heard of a baby Mary recently or have any ideas?

Beautiful! I know a toddler Mary and think it is a feminine and pretty name. And will be unusual in her generation.

IrnBruTortie · 28/05/2017 07:50

I love it. I know a v young Mary, and also some called Marie / Maria. It's lovely to honour someone special too x

Completeguess · 28/05/2017 07:50

Really don't like it sorry and I haven't met one for years but I think it's popular on here.

saladsmoothie · 28/05/2017 07:52

Love love love xx

MollyHuaCha · 28/05/2017 07:54

It's lovely. I wanted this name, but DH said no...

I like it. With a few exceptions, I don't usually like the 'old' names, but I do like Mary. Possibly because there's an older one in our extended family and she is lovely. If I'd had a dd I would have tried to use it somewhere in the name.
I work in a school and we have had a couple of Marys over the years, but only ever one at a time.

Lovely

Mary is a lovely name and is on our list :)

MiniAlphaBravo · 28/05/2017 08:38

I like it and had it on our lists. Hesitated to use it but it's very pretty and has good significance for you. Go for it!

wizzywig · 28/05/2017 08:39

Great name. Lovely.

ClashCityRocker · 28/05/2017 08:54

I couldn't use it as it's what little girls call their bits round here.

But I think that's just a local thing. I actually think it's quite pretty. And she'd be a shoo-in for the nativity!

RuthB4 · 28/05/2017 09:06

Lovely!

I think it's a good choice - solid, sensible, well-known and "on-trend" in the sense of being sweet and vintage but very underused as you say. However, I'm personally not a huge fan of Mary. Nothing wrong with it as such, it just feels very bland to me. Lots of people love it and find it refreshing on a little one though!

needsomeopinions · 28/05/2017 10:02

No, please not for a baby. Mary is also a middle name in both mine and my DH's side of the family but DH won't even contemplate it as a middle name!

villainousbroodmare · 28/05/2017 10:08

Lovely. Vintage but non-elderly. Unusual yet familiar.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/05/2017 10:12

❤️ Mary.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 28/05/2017 10:15

It's nice, depends on where you live though. Round here it would be pronounced Muuury.

Floralnomad · 28/05/2017 10:15

Drab and dull , sorry .

Too religious for me.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 28/05/2017 10:22

DDs has a lovely friend called Mary, she's beautiful inside and out tbh so I associate the name with good things. She's 13 so not a baby but still v young so I don't think it's out of place in 2017 for a baby.

troodiedoo · 28/05/2017 10:22

It's lovely (my middle name)

Old fashioned names all the rage now so go for it. It won't sound old fashioned to her peer group.

DaisyDaisydoo · 28/05/2017 10:24

Love it

Rockaby · 28/05/2017 10:25

I love it!
