Felix or Albie

What do you of these names - Felix or Albie?

I'm not keen on the name Albert so would it be weird to have Albion as the full / passport name for Albie? It's an old name for Great Britain apparently!

Felix.

Yes Albion means GB, plus west brom, Brighton etc

YouWhatMate · 23/05/2017 23:05

Felix for sure!! Love that name!

Not a fan of Albie or Albert at all.

Lemondrop99 · 23/05/2017 23:21

Both lovely. I'd pick Felix as Albie is quite popular. Suggestion of Albus for full name?

CrispyBathTowel · 23/05/2017 23:26

You could have Albin/Albyn with Albie for short. I used to like Albie but a few z-listers have called their new baby's that and it's put me off. So, I prefer Felix.

villainousbroodmare · 23/05/2017 23:34

Damp and pet cat-ish. Sorry.

DuggeeHugs · 24/05/2017 00:28

Felix.

22Names · 24/05/2017 01:00

I agree with the suggestion of Albus. I just think "up the Albion!!" otherwise

Sophronia · 24/05/2017 01:03

Albie short for Alban, Albin, Alberic or Albus

KoalaDownUnder · 24/05/2017 01:07

Felix.

I'm not a fan of all the Albie/Alfie/Archie names. Twee.

Newtothis11 · 24/05/2017 01:21

Firs thing that came to kind was the cat advert.

Albie as it is is nice

AdaColeman · 24/05/2017 01:25

Felix by a long way.

Plunkette · 24/05/2017 01:37

Felix.

Felix is great.

Albie is OK as a nickname for Alban or Albin. I love those.

user1473602935 · 24/05/2017 07:00

Thanks everyone!! Just got to convince DH now!

Like Felix. Not keen on Albie - too cute. Nice on a 5 yr old but could he carry it off as a 18yr old?

almosttherenow · 24/05/2017 10:01

I'd probably go with Felix, I really like that name even though some people say they just think of a cat.

I know a guy in his 30s called Albie and have never thought it sounds babyish.

ScarletForYa · 24/05/2017 10:06

Felix, Albie is sickly twee.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 24/05/2017 10:23

Felix is a bit too popular and catty imo.

Albie is a lovely nn, but I agree, it needs a "complete" name for the bc.

Alberic, Albion or Albus, I guess? I personally really like Alberic.

ohsofat · 24/05/2017 11:24

I love both but if I had to choose just one it would be Albie, I would also just use Albie as the full name.

YouWhatMate · 24/05/2017 12:01

Last year Albert was 72nd, Felix 95th, and Albie 107th. So I'd say Albie is more popular if you include those called Albert but using Albie. They're also both rising VERY sharply, so there's gonna be more and more of them.

Dunno if that bothers you or not, OP.

Also, Albie looks like a misspelling of Alfie. And Felix is better than them both anyway.

Rockaby · 24/05/2017 19:24

Felix

Argeles · 24/05/2017 21:41

Albie.
