All great names but I'd go for Edward.

MrsGB2225 · 22/05/2017 16:49

Edward

BackforGood · 22/05/2017 16:53

All lovely names.
Would depend on your surname, but for me I'd rank

Joseph
Thomas
Edward
Oliver

Joseph. The others are just so popular. Nice names but soooo many of them

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 22/05/2017 16:58

Thomas. might be a little biased

Really like them all though.

heateallthebuns · 22/05/2017 17:32

All nice!!

heymrtambourineman · 22/05/2017 17:36

Edward. I like them all except Oliver though

Chocolatecake12 · 23/05/2017 21:28

Olivers my favourite! I am biased though!! Can't believe people think I it's dull!! Really?!
All your names were on my shortlist 15 years ago when I had my ds so you have very good classic taste. My Oliver gets called Olly by his friends and even his teachers and I really live it too! I think it's a great friendly nn.
Think of the nn of all your choices. Think about your baby as a school boy, as a teenager, and as an adult! (Hard to do I know)
Joseph is nice as is joe but Joey as a grown up sounds babyish IMO
Edward is very lovely and classic as is Thomas.
I think I know an equal amount of boys ranging from 17-3 with these names so all of equal popularity where I live.
Good luck in your choice and do please come back and update us!

You're really surprised at that? Oliver is the number 1 most common name for boys, and has been for 3 straight years. Of course people are going to find it a little boring now.

indigo13 · 24/05/2017 02:32

They're all very overused, especially Oliver. If you don't mind that then I'd say Joseph is the best of the four

Joeybee · 24/05/2017 09:29

Edward is my fave off that list, the others are a bit dull (imo...i know other people love the other names). I think Oliver is way too popular, Thomas is boring, and Joseph is plain.

Marzipanmodelling · 26/05/2017 11:13

Thanks for the replies. Because of his brother's names and surname we've gone for Thomas because of being Tom when he's older we like the nn. Thanks for the people who said they're classic and not 'dull'!

Lovely choice of names, you can't go wrong with any of them but Thomas is great. Congratulations 💐

howthelightgetsin · 26/05/2017 11:48

I love the name Tom / Thomas, such a strong classic name. Also Joseph which is a classic name but you don't hear so much now.

Agree with the PP who said Teddy (Edward) is getting very common. I know several of them already (quite a high percentage of the baby boys I know!). At least if they have Edward on the BC they can be Ed when they're older rather than Teddy which I can't imagine suiting anyone older than about two.

PhuntSox · 26/05/2017 20:17

Edward, the others as very over used. I was surprised others feel its getting popular, we don't know any.
