Which do you prefer?

One is my choice, the other is DP's

We cannot agree.

Help!

Definitely Lois, much better as a grown up name for the rest of her life, and cute for a little girl too.

notangelinajolie · 19/05/2017 20:59

Oh dear Sad for the first time ever in a name thread I am stumped. I think you will need to have 2 girl babies so that you can use both names.

Lois was my pick for DD1 but DH really, really wanted another name -
much more than I wanted Lois so he won. It is such a lovely name and part of me regrets not fighting my corner but 24 years on I really can't imagine DD1 as a Lois at all.

I also adore Marnie but it wasn't a name that cropped up all those years ago.

Tough choice OP. I think the best way to decide is to work out how much each of you want your pick? In the end I coud live without it - but DH was unrelentless. So our decision wasn't all that difficult in the end.

RockyBird · 20/05/2017 00:38

I chose Lois too, but it was DH's turn to pick.

Mumoftheark · 20/05/2017 03:22

Definitely Lois

Don't want her being called sarnie Marnie or cheese sarnie (we had a Marnie at school, she was always called something related to a sandwich).

lazydog · 20/05/2017 03:28

I'd say Marnie. I think that's a lovely name and I'm probably overly biased against the alternative because I do know an unbelievably horrible (adult) Lois.

lovemyname · 20/05/2017 03:53

Name changed for this obviously.

Catherine I may be biased but I'd say Lois! As my user name says I absolutely love my name and there's definitely not many of us about (where I live anyway)!

Heratnumber7, mine is pronounced
Low-iss by most people but sometimes I get Loyce too. It all seems to depends on the person's accent.

PodgeBod · 20/05/2017 05:11

Marnie

FreddieFlowerdew · 20/05/2017 06:06

Lois.

stephmia · 20/05/2017 07:37

Marnie 100% 💗

CrispyBathTowel · 20/05/2017 16:44

Definitely Marnie.

Phantommagic · 20/05/2017 16:48

Marnie I think. Lois is popular where I am. I know lots of them.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/05/2017 16:50

Marnie 100%

My favourite girls name. Love love love it.

Biscuitsneeded · 20/05/2017 16:51

Lois. Pretty but sophisticated too.

Miz10 · 20/05/2017 16:54

Lois

user1490395938 · 20/05/2017 16:58

Lois, definitely!

BewareOfTheToddler · 20/05/2017 17:06

I think I'd go for Lois. If you're in the north, Marnie sounds a bit too close to "mardy" Grin

MrsMontgomerySmythe · 20/05/2017 17:14

I know a Marni in the USA. Fab lady.

OnlyRose · 20/05/2017 17:24

They are both lovely names, but I prefer Lois.

Orangebird69 · 20/05/2017 17:27

Lois. Would've called my ds Lois if he'd been a dd. Lovely name.

heymrtambourineman · 20/05/2017 17:56

Marnie. An excellent name

Catherinebee85 · 20/05/2017 17:57

It would be low-iss. Marnie is DP's choice but I'm hoping the fact that I'm pushing her out of me gives me the trump card when it comes to the final say. I don't mind Marnie but we are in the north so too close to Mardy for me!Grin

Love Marnie - my friends older sister is called Marnie and growing up she was always so cool & beautiful (and still is).

Lois on the other hand reminds me of the wife from Family Guy.

seafoodeatit · 23/05/2017 14:28

Another vote for Lois.

dustarr73 · 24/05/2017 13:06

Marnie is very pretty.Lois reminds me of Lois Lane. And the ma in Malcolm in the middle

22Names · 24/05/2017 13:56

Also Northern and like Marnie best, but it's close.
