Betty with B surname?

Betty is a family name and I love it but the surname begins with B, do you think this is still an option? Other options I love are Flora and Imogen. Opinions and similar suggestions please Smile

Its not Boop is it?

Teabagtits · 18/05/2017 14:04

Our dog it called Betty bump and I think it works well.... her full name is Elizabeth bumpington. Maybe calling the baby Elizabeth as a full name and Betty as a nickname would get round the initials thing but it really depends on what the surname is whether or not it would go.

Like Betty Barnaby on Midsomer Murders?

nightswimming1 · 18/05/2017 14:08

Flora and Imogen are much more grown up. Betty is cute on a little girl - agree with pp that Elizabeth is better; Betty for short!

Betty B... is fine.

But Flora is just so lovely. And Betty is so normal/average in my personal opinion.

I also love Flora. I wish we could use it! (Wouldn't need to look for an other name for DD2...)

CricketRuntAndRashers · 18/05/2017 19:28

Flora Betty B...?

Congratulations, btw :)!

ColourfulOrangex · 18/05/2017 19:40

Imogen is pretty

Buntysoven · 19/05/2017 00:36

I love Betty. Right up my alley! Not as cutesy as Betsy and good for all ages I think. It looks like I'm in the minority but I really love it.

Sophronia · 19/05/2017 06:59

I prefer Flora

auntym · 19/05/2017 12:41

Thanks for your comments and congratulations.

Bunty - Yes it may be an acquired taste but I think it's a brilliant name Grin

Flora Elizabeth / Elizabeth Flora?

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 19/05/2017 13:23

It depends on the surname and how the two names flow. I've known a couple of girls with alliterative names that sounded really glamorous, but my shortened first name/maiden name combination didn't sound good at all. I know it's a Mumsnet 'thing', but I really would suggest you call her Elizabeth officially, so that if she decides she doesn't like Betty B- she can use a different variation with zero hassle.

Mumoftheark · 20/05/2017 03:37

I know a 5 year old Betty b I like it & she's adorable

auntym · 27/05/2017 21:17

Cricket why can't you use Flora?

I personally love alliterative names! Our surname is B and Betty was one of our shortlist for DD
