I love Sylvia & Clara. I also really like Josephine and shortened version Josie; but I’m not keen on Jo, so I probably wouldn’t use it for that reason. Margot is ok. Laura is probably my least favourite, but still a perfectly good, solid name.

Some other names you might like:

Beatrice
Claudia
Cora
Eloise
Flora
Frances
Hazel
Helena
Justine
Louisa
Lydia
Matilda

If I could change my name it would be to Josephine, nickname Jo, Joey or Josie. So I would choose that from your list!

KoalaDownUnder · 17/05/2017 07:01

Clara or Sylvia.

I don't like Margot, it will always remind me of maggot (sorry).

Scribblegirl · 17/05/2017 07:05

My name is one of the ones in your thread title Grin my sister is Jennifer, if that helps!

Clara is my favourite!

My favourite is Laura, such a underused name these days. It's classy, easy to spell and pronounce.

MiniAlphaBravo · 17/05/2017 07:34

Laura or Josephine: both unusual these days but classic and well known. Josephine has better nickname potential if that bothers you. I know one in early twenties who is Jodie but never Jo.

MiniAlphaBravo · 17/05/2017 07:34

Josie not jodie!!

Frazzled2207 · 17/05/2017 07:43

Clara. Nice list though.

Love Josephine and Laura.
Suggestions;

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 17/05/2017 11:22

Josephine is a fabulous name, which I say with no bias whatsoever.

I also love Margot and Clara.

alltouchedout · 17/05/2017 11:23

On this list you have my maternal grandmother's name, my name, and one of the names I would have used if I had ever had a daughter. You have excellent taste, op ;)

HorraceTheOtter · 17/05/2017 11:27

Sylvia or Josephine, love both of them.

MaroonPencil · 17/05/2017 11:30

Laura -my favourite by far
Sylvia - Not one I would have thought of but the more I think about it the more I like it, Sylvie is a nick nickname too
Clara - Pretty, just a little bit more "meh" than the others for me, but still pretty
Margot - Nice, but would people know not to pronounce the "t"?
Josephine - My least favourite

MaroonPencil · 17/05/2017 11:30

nice nickname! Not nick nickname...

AnotherAnnoyingMother · 17/05/2017 12:04

Thanks everyone - my husband fairly fixed on Laura which I like I just don't Love it - hoping one of us changes our minds about names we love!

Another

My DH is rather fixed on Louisa (which people on mumsnet seem to love as well). I like it but really don't love it...

But Idk, maybe starting from scratch again would be better? That's what we decided to do.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/05/2017 13:09

Laura.

I have a Lara- kind of a compromise of Clara and Laura, although I like both of those too.

auntym · 19/05/2017 13:14

I like Clara or Margo (but spelled without the t) from your list. How about:

Edith
Evelyn
Rose

Hairq · 19/05/2017 22:37

I love Laura. Beautiful name and underused at the moment.

Chatelherault · 20/05/2017 18:51

Lydia

Juliet

Josephine

JinCa · 20/05/2017 18:54

I really love Sylvia / Sylvie and Margot. Quite like Josephine and Clara. Can't face Laura as I know about a hundred thousand of them. Also like Cecilia, Jemima, Elise, Agathe?
