Why are boys names so hard?

Ds2 due in 4 weeks.

Had a list of girls names as long as the equator.

Boys list is currently:

??????
??????
??????

Empty!

No ideas! My baby name book is falling to pieces - I can't find anything I like. The only name DP has thrown out is Logan, but I'm thinking that there will be loads registered this year due to the wolverine film that's just come out.

My dd has a top 10 classic name, ds has a top 200 'old man' name.

DP's dd both have less popular unusual names - one from lotr and one a 'footballers wives' kind of name.

I have no criteria except I'm not keen on 'pretentious' type names. Not bothered if it 'goes' with the other dc as their names are not matchy anyway.

I really liked the name Ronnie, but dsis has a 2 month old Reggie and it's completely put me off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I was the opposite. Our boys name was set from when I was 5 months.
But a girls name, I was in labour and thought, if this baby is a girl, she has no name.

I think names in general are hard.

It was easier for DD, but now we need a name that at least "kind" of goes with DD's name and that we also like as much as DD's name...

If you like Ronnie... Why not go with Ronald nn Ronnie? I don't think that's too similar.

ItsNeverSunnyInWales · 03/05/2017 11:49

Quiet it's not the 'samey' feel - it's more that I don't want to put my mum in the position where she has to say she has two new grandchildren called Ronnie and reggie 😂

Ah, she can handle it ;)

DM may be put in the position where she has to say that her granddaughters are Clarissa and Apolline...
She could also say Ronnie and Reg?

I know a lovely Ronnie, it's one of my fave names. I like the PP suggestion of Ronson though. MN Ronnie

My first pg we had a list of about 10 girls names and only one boy name

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 03/05/2017 19:20

Go with Logan, it's a great name. Wink

AmyG87 · 06/05/2017 04:29

Hi OP.

I'm the same as you, just can't decide on any boy names. How about:
Charlie
Rory
Noah
Leo

I also love the name Logan but not sure that it flows / sounds right... Logan Mason. Opinions please?

Chottie · 06/05/2017 10:31

Amy - you are right Logan Mason just doesn't flow well....

Northgate · 06/05/2017 10:37

There's been 2 Wolverine films out previously, and the country is not swimming in Logan's (although it is in the top 50 I believe), so I wouldn't let the new film put you off if you really like the name.

PandaEyes25 · 08/05/2017 12:30

I really like Logan! I don't think it's that popular as that name never occurred to me.

Our not so short list is
Harry
George (but it's a bit too popular now)
Callum
James
Liam
Toby
Charlie
Keiran
Quinn
Arren

I was the same as you OP, I had loads of girls names ready but no boys names, and would still be the same now if I were to have another baby, me and DP came to the agreement I would name if we had a girl he would name if we had a boy, we ended up having 2 dds Grin

What about Ronan

Same sort of sound as Logan.
You can call him Ronnie.
and your mum can say 'Ronan and Reggie'!

Everyone's a winner ....
